Highscreen Alpha GT and Alpha GTR smartphones with Android 4.0 ICS

Vobis Computer has introduced new Android ICS smartphones in Russia, the Highscreen Alpha GT and the Highscreen Alpha GTR. Both handsets are support dual SIM cards capabilities and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
The Alpha GT is equipped with a 1GHz MTK6575 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory. The phone has a 4-inch touchscreen IPS display with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

Highscreen Alpha GT smartphone brings two cameras (2MP front- and 8MP rear-facing), Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, FM radio, GPS, proximity, lighting and orientation sensor. It works with GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS 900/2100 MHz networks. Dimensions of Alpha GT are 124 x 63.5 x 11.6 mm.
More powerful, the Highscreen Alpha GTR sports a dual-core processor and 4.5-inch IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Other features of Alpha GTR are similar to Alpha GT.

Android apps coming to Windows Phones?

There’s a weird rumor going around the Interwebs, suggesting that Microsoft may allow Android apps to run on Windows Phones. Something like that would quickly increase the app count for Microsoft’s mobile platform, but there are downsides as well. For one thing, this could entice developers to skip “regular” native development for Windows Phone. It’s a tricky choice. On one hand, the Redmond giant could benefit in the short term to have all those Android apps and games available on Windows Phone handsets. On the other hand, they could pretty much face extinction from the mobile game, with Windows Phone pretty much turning into yet another Android launcher. So no, we don’t think Microsoft will allow this to happen. At the same time, it may not stop other companies from pursuing this opportunity.
