‘Fieldrunners 2′ for iOS game review

The original Fieldrunners that came out almost four years ago was probably the first tower defense game on iOS. It was also a very good game, which is why even after all these years it remains one of the best games in the genre on the platform. And lots of other titles tried to steal that crown. Now, developer Subatomic Studios has released a sequel that promises to be even more fun – Fieldrunners 2. Read on to find out how good it is. Gameplay-wise, Fieldrunners 2 is your run-of-the-mill tower defense game. You have a bunch of towers to choose from and you unlock more as you collect points while playing the game. You have limited slots available for every game and you get to choose the towers you will use before each level begins. The arrows are visible when you are dragging the towers around and change to s...

Battle of the input methods: Touch, type or tell? [poll]

We’ve come a long way since our early descendants scribbled some crude animal drawings on their cave walls over 30,000 years ago. What would these inhabitants of the Stone Age have made of a quill, or a ballpoint pen? A typewriter, surely, would have frazzled their primitive minds. However, for many of us, the pen and pencil have become anachronistic tools as well. I can’t remember the last time I needed a pencil, and the pen has become an implement of last resort.  Most often, of course, I am typing on my computer and increasingly my smartphone. Even for jotting down reminders and shopping lists, I use a simple Notes app. It is more convenient than pen and paper and I know I won’t lose it. Even as the mobile phone becomes the dominant device for how we capture, store and pass on information, another battle is raging about the way we are doing it. So, it’s time declare your loyalties in the war of the input methods. Number keypads What does the following sequence of digits mean to y...

Posted in: Android, Mobile phones, Mobile software 13 hours ago by Ian The popular CyanogenMod ROM modding scene has officially dropped support for a wide array of devices running on the dated Snapdragon S1 chipset. This means that devices running on the Qualcomm QSD8x50, MSM7x25, MSM7x27 and MSM7x27T SoCs will not see any builds beyond Cyanogen 7.x, which is based on Gingerbread. The more popular devices which fall into the above criteria include the Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy Ace and the LG Optimus One. The full list of devices dropped is: If you own one of the above devices, not all hope is lost, as the team promises to revisit the topic if a solution presents itself that allows the d...
