Oppo 3000 released in China, it's a 4G-capable midranger

Oppo has unveiled a new smartphone in China today. It's called Oppo 3000 and it's already up for grabs in the mainland, in an interesting twist. Unlike other Oppo handsets, this one can't claim the title of "world's thinnest smartphone", nor does it come with an innovative swiveling camera. The Oppo 3000 is just a midrange device, aiming to deliver a polished experience to those who aren't looking for top of the line specs. Oppo 3000 Speaking of those, the Oppo 3000 comes with a 4.7-inch 720p touchscreen, a 5 MP wide-angle front camera, and an 8 MP Sony IMX179 rear camera sensor, which boasts f/2.0 aperture and has a five-element lens. All of these things should add up to decent image quality produced by this phone. Running the show here is Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 410 SoC, with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU in tow and Adreno 306 GPU. The Oppo 3000 has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, dual-SIM functionality (dual-standby), 4G...

The Nokia Purity Pro Wireless Stereo Headset by Monster was unveiled this week at IFA in Berlin as the latest in our fast-growing line of audio accessories. As the name suggests, these new headsets offer a wire-free connection to your phone. Music transfer is by Bluetooth and the headsets feature one-touch pairing with your smartphone using NFC. The crisp, clear sound quality delivered by the Purity Pro is enhanced by Monster’s active noise cancellation technology. This includes feed forward and feedback technology for ambient and percussive noise cancellation. The noise cancellation and Bluetooth activates automatically when the headset is unfolded, and switches off again when you fold them up after use. Monster, t...

Samsung I9103 Galaxy R ICS source code released, ROM builders rejoice

Posted in: Mobile phones, Mobile software August 24th, 2012, 11:50 by Chip Samsung have just released the source code of the ICS kernel of their Galaxy R Android smartphone. This will presumably open the floodgates and custom ROMs and kernels for the device will now start appearing at a rapid rate. Samsung engineers took their time with the Galaxy R ICS update, delivering it several months after the release for the Galaxy S II, but that was to be expected given the difference in popularity (and price) between the two handsets. Now that the update is seeding and the source code is released the two Galaxy smartphones are finally on equal footing, though this will probably change in the next few months as the Galaxy S II catches the train to Jelly Bean station. If you happen to own a Galaxy R, you might want to keep an eye on the XDA-developers forums, where helpful hackers will start working their magic on the Samsung code and will probably have a host of interesting new ROMs for you ...
