Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Total Recall and The Bourne Legacy. All are, or set to be, great 2012 films. But how do you know they will be any good before you purchase that ticket? Watch the trailer first using Nokia Trailers on your Nokia Lumia. Download Nokia Trailers now Press the Search button on your Nokia Lumia and then tap VisionScan the barcodeTap on the link when it appears on the screenInstall the application from the Windows Phone Marketplace To be honest, I didn’t really want to see Total Recall until I watched the trailer. I didn’t think anybody could make a better version than the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger version. However, the trailer has impressed me and I’ll be buying a ticket when it comes out. I’m sure most of you feel the same way; it’s the trailer that sells a movie. With Nokia Trailers you can either stream them for instant viewing or download them for watching later. Nokia Drive’s offline maps going places with Engadget

One of the many great features about Nokia Drive is the ability to have a complete offline experience – so you can get to where you want, even without a data connection. Offline functionality has always been very important for Nokia Drive on several of our platforms and it is something we love. In our opinion, it is superior to others because it offers a great experience such as search and route planning all completely offline. And, it seems, we are not the only ones who love it. A comprehensive review and hands on test in Engadget has concluded that: Nokia Drive is the best purely offline navigational tool on the market, on any mobile platform.   Engadget’s Darren Murph used Nokia Drive, on a Lumia 900, in its offline mode for a trip of 1,800 miles across the United States and says he was ‘downright shocked at just how fast everything operated.’ “Nokia Drive is a beautiful app to look at. The icons are big, bold and polished, with fonts that are pleasing and easy to view from afar. Y...

Posted in: Digital cameras About an hour ago by Prasad Nikon has unleashed two new cameras on the digital photography world. The first one is the newest member of the Nikon 1 family, which currently includes the V1 and the J1. The J2 is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that is mostly similar to the older J1 with minor modifications. It has the same 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor up front in a compact, rangefinder-style body but the display on the back has been upgraded and now has 921k dots in the same 3.0-inch size. The J2 also has a new Creative Mode that lets you add visual effects to your images, a metallic body and comes in a new orange color. The Nikon 1 J2 camera with the 10-30mm lens (27-80mm in 35mm equivalent) will be available in September 2012 for the suggested retail price of $549.95. New Smoosh App for iPhone Helps Photos Escape the Ordinary

Las Vegas, Nevada – Bazzbo today introduces Smoosh, its latest photography app for iPhone that transforms images into impressionist art by letting the user “smoosh” the pixels using unique tools for original and surprising results. The app allows photographers at any skill level to easily manipulate their images, giving them a unique and creative new look. The app gives users new ways to smudge and smear their photos with a painterly look that is unique to the App Store. Designed by the creator of the popular Pixel Blend Pro app, Smoosh is available in both free and paid versions. “Smoosh is a great addition to everyone’s photo toolbox,” said Michael Valdez, Founder of Bazzbo. “It’s a simple, intuitive app to help your photos get away from the ordinary.” Photography on the iPhone is becoming even more popular, and for many amateur shutterbugs, it has replaced the standalone digital camera for everyday use. But as more and more photos are taken, people are increasingly looking for simp...

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ported to the T-Mobile G1

Posted in: Android, Mobile phones, Mobile software About an hour ago by Prasad The opensource nature of the Android OS means new updates are often found running on older phones before they officially hit the newer devices. Keeping with that tradition, today we are about to see the very latest version of Android running on the very first commercially sold Android phone. Yes, you are about to see Jelly Bean running on the T-Mobile G1. This hack was put together by the folks at SoCal Devs and they have details on how to go about doing it on xda-developers forums. While it’s not exactly Project Butter (more like Project Stutter) nor is it particularly stable, the phone does seem to be able to run it somehow. If you still have this phone lying around you can try this hack and have some fun with it. Just don’t expect to be able to use it on a daily basis. Source View the original article here

Google disables Jelly Bean app encryption after issues with several paid apps

Posted in: Android, Mobile software 9 minutes ago by Prasad One of the key features in Android 4.1, Jelly Bean is that it automatically encrypts paid applications with a device specific ID, which ensures an app downloaded on once device can only be used on that particular device. This was created to combat the rampant piracy that has been seen on the Android platform. Unfortunately, while the idea is excellent, the execution is not, as several developers and users of paid apps have found out. The problem exists with the way the encrypted applications are downloaded and installed. In Jelly Bean, Google Play Store installs the application in the /mnt/asec folder (which is encrypted) instead of the /data/apps folder. When the OS boots, a service cache is generated for all the installed apps. Unfortunately, this process happens before the /mnt/asec folder is mounted, because of which the the OS cannot find the settings and other user profile data for the app, which causes the paid apps t...

Nikon found to have been working on Android-based Coolpix S800 camera

Posted in: Android, Digital cameras 3 hours ago by Prasad Cameras running Android is not exactly a new concept. Polaroid showcased the SC1630 earlier this year at CES and even Samsung is said to have been working on a similar device. Now we are hearing that Nikon too is working on an Android based camera and there is some proof to back that claim as well. This information comes courtesy an Indonesian Communication filing from July 2012 that shows a product named Coolpix S800c (or S800), which is said to be running Android 2.3, Gingerbread. According to Nikon Rumors , the expected features of this camera include a 25-250mm lens, 3.5-inch OLED display, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi. They also say that the camera will run all apps from the Google Play Store, although that seems unlikely. The possible announcement date for this product is said to be August 22. While you may not exactly be able to play games on this camera, what the inclusion of Android means is that you will be able to install...

Windows RT to ship with Preview version of Office 2013 RT, loses some features

Posted in: Desktop computers, Mobile software, Windows August 8th, 2012, 10:26 by Prasad It has been known for a while now that Microsoft will be shipping a version of the new Office 2013 with Windows RT and that it will be the only non-Metro application that can be accessed on this particular version of the operating system. Now we are learning that Office 2013 RT, which is to be included on Windows RT will be a watered-down version of the full blown Office 2013 that you will experience on standard Windows 8 or 7. Instead what you will get is the Preview version of the Office 2013 RT pre-installed in Windows RT devices and you will be able to upgrade to the final version, which will come out sometime early next year. So what’s missing in Office RT compared to the full blown Office? The list includes macros, third party add-ons, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) support and some other minor things. Microsoft says that these features have been dropped to ensure better battery life a...

Overclocked 1.6GHz Nexus 7 blasts benchmarks thanks to Trinity Kernel

Posted in: Android, Tablets 20 hours ago by Vince As many of you know, the ASUS Nexus 7 is powered by the Tegra 3 chipset and its four main cores are clocked at 1.3GHz. Naturally, the guys over at XDA wanted to squeeze every last drop of performance out of the processor and have managed to make it run at the blazing 1.64GHz. When put through its paces in the Quadrant benchmark test, the overclocked Nexus 7 scored over 7100 points. The secret ingredient is the Trinity kernel developed by XDA’s “Morfic”. Thanks to it, the Nexus 7 is able to achieve the tremendous clock speed, and according to user reports still maintains great battery life.
