Canon unveils two PowerShot superzoom cameras – meet the SX150 and SX500

Posted in: Digital cameras 17 hours ago by Johnny Canon just announced two new members of the PowerShot line of digital cameras – the SX500 IS and the SX160 IS. Both feature 16 MP 1/2.3? CCD sensors and Canon’s DIGIC 4 image processor. The S160 IS is the successor to the SX150 IS, while the SX500 IS is a totally new package. The duo is expected to hit the market this September for $329.99 (SX500 IS) and $229.99 (SX160 IS). The Canon PowerShot SX500 IS features a lens with the impressive 30x optical zoom covering the 24-720mm range and offering a maximum aperture range of F/3.4-5.8. It comes with Canon’s Intelligent IS for camera shake reduction. The superzoom also offers a Zoom Framing Assist feature – if you lose sight of your desired target just hit the ZFA button and the camera will quickly zoom out so you can see what you want to focus on. Nikon launches 1 J2 mirrorless and Coolpix L610 superzoom cameras

The first one is the newest member of the Nikon 1 family, which currently includes the V1 and the J1. The J2 is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that is mostly similar to the older J1 with minor modifications. It has the same 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor up front in a compact, rangefinder-style body but the display on the back has been upgraded and now has 921k dots in the same 3.0-inch size. The J2 also has a new Creative Mode that lets you add visual effects to your images, a metallic body and comes in a new orange color. The Nikon 1 J2 camera with the 10-30mm lens (27-80mm in 35mm equivalent) will be available in September 2012 for the suggested retail price of $549.95. A new 1 NIKKOR 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens (30-75mm in 35mm equivalent) will also be available in late September 2012 and will have a suggested retail price of $189.95. Additionally, the n...
