Sony Xperia E4g is already up for pre-order in the UK

Sony unveiled the Xperia E4g just a few days ago, as the 4G-capable version of the original Xperia E4. And today it's already up for pre-order at a few online retailers in the UK. For now, all of them are only offering the phone in SIM-free and unlocked form. So if you're one to usually purchase your handsets with an operator contract attached, you still have some waiting to do before you can grab an Xperia E4g. If, on the other hand, you have nothing against paying full price for a smartphone, then the Xperia E4g can be yours for ?110 at MobileFun, ?125 at Clove, or ?129.99 at Amazon. MobileFun and Amazon don't say anything about a release time frame for the device, while Clove mentions that its first stock of the Xperia E4g is expected in early April. So even if you do pre-order, it will be a while before the Xperia E4g is delivered at your doorstep. The Xperia E4g has a 4.7-inch 540x960 touchscreen, a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2MP front snapper, 1GB of RAM, 8GB...

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua spotted ahead of its official unveiling

A Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is expected to join the Xperia Z4 Tablet at the MWC announcement and though that's not for a couple of days, the phone couldn?t elude the paparazzi any longer. Two photos show a classic Xperia design with a lot of similarities to the Xperia M2 Aqua. The phone is most likely the Sony E2303 that has leaked before, which would mean a 5.2" 720p display, Snapdragon 615 chipset running Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 13MP main camera and 5MP selfie camera, both shooting 1080p video. Benchmarks unfortunately can't tell us the IP rating, but the Xperia M2 Aqua has IP68, making it dust tight and able to survive dives up to 1.5m for half an hour. Thanks to the CoolKid for sending this in! Source View the original article here

Sony Xperia E4 goes on pre-order in the UK at £100

The Sony Xperia E4 quietly sneacked onto the stage yesterday and the announcement was so quick we didn?t even get a launch date and a price. Clove UK has answered both of these questions by putting the new handset on pre-order. It's priced at ?100 and will be available in late March. Clove also cleared up the OS situation ? the Xperia E4 will launch with Android 4.4.4 KitKat and get 5.0 Lollipop later. Note that the price is for the single-SIM version, there's another one with two SIM slots but there's no price for it yet. Expansys is also accepting pre-orders but hasn?t listed a price or a launch date. We couldn?t find it in other stores for now. Three UK has a post about it, which just speculates on price but points to mid-February as the launch window. Source View the original article here

Sony Xperia E4 and E4 Dual quietly unveiled

Sony just announced the Xperia E4. It has a bigger screen than the Xperia E3, a similar a quad-core processor and 1GB RAM, plus a 5MP/1080p camera. It doesn?t have LTE though, what it does have is a dual-SIM version similar to the Xperia E3 and E1. While it's not perfectly clear which phone is being replaced by the Xperia E4, but it will be Sony's first phone to launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Update : in the promo video the OS version is listed as 4.4.4 KitKat. Hopefully Sony will get its story straight soon, but the earlier Android release looks more likely. Sony Xperia E4 The phone is powered by an unknown chipset with a quad-core processor at 1.3GHz with 1GB of RAM. Update : apparently it's a MediaTek MT6582 chipset with four Cortex-A7 cores and a Mali-400MP2 GPU. The official specs page still says Adreno 330, which is clearly wrong. The main camera is a 5MP shooter with 1080p video, while the selfie camera is a 2MP/720p unit. The selfie camera is an improvement ...

Sony Xperia Z4 visits GeekBench with its Snapdragon 810 chipset

The Xperia Z4 leaks keep mounting, the latest coming from GeekBench. The benchmark confirms a Snapdragon 810 chipset and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, which is what previous rumors have claimed. The benchmark only found 3GB of RAM though, not 4GB as earlier leaks have suggested. The Qualcomm MSM8994 chipset, aka Snapdragon 810, features four Cortex-A57 cores and four Cortex-A53 in a big.LITTLE configuration. The processor was only detected at 1.55GHz, which is the top speed of the A53 cores, the faster A57s go as high as 2GHz. On the graphics side the new Adreno 430, succeeding the 420 in the Snapdragon 805. The new GPU is supposed to offer 30% better performance over the old design, the Cortex-A57 is similarly set to bring 30% more oomph than the A15. Unfortunately, GeekBench is a CPU-centric benchmark and didn?t even list the screen resolution. It has been suggested that Sony will launch the Xperia Z4 with both a 1080p screen and a QHD one. There's nothing on the camera either, report...

Sony Xperia Z4 to sport slim bezels and new speaker design

The Sony Xperia Z4 is one of the less likely announcements expected to be seen at the MWC a few weeks from now, judging by the lack of tangible info on the device. A recent leak on Chinese social network Weibo, however, might force us to rethink that position. A couple of front panels have appeared in live images revealing interesting facts about the upcoming flagship, and suggesting its nearing launch. Revolutionary changes are out of the question obviously, but a few design tweaks are observed. Most noticeably, the front camera and ambient light/proximity sensors have swapped positions. The bezels appear marginally slimmer than the ones on the previous generation, but if Sony's design language is to be followed, the outer frame will add a few more millimeters to the footprint. In a move away from the Xperia Z3 and back to the Xperia Z2 the speakers have been repositioned behind thin slits at the edges of the panel. HTC One (M9) was recently revealed to sport a similar design. N...

Sony Xperia SP Android 4.3 update rolling out as we speak, in some markets at least

Sony has started rolling out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to users in some markets, namely Malaysia and Australia. At the moment, the new software (version 12.1.A.0.266) isn’t available over the air, and you’ll rather have to use Sony’s PC Companion desktop software to download and install it to your phone. That’s not the problem considering all the goodies you’ll get in return. These include the fancy white UI seen in other Sony smartphones that run Android 4.3, a new Sony Smart Camera and Sony media apps, new downloadable Xperia themes and wallpapers, a new launcher, as well as a number of performance improvements that make the UI feel a lot smoother. We’ve no idea when the Japanese company will bring the same update to other parts of the world and can only hope this will be a short wait. In addition, we’re hoping Sony will allow this process to be conducted over the air rather than requiring their infamous desktop software… [Via: XperiaGuide, UnwiredView] Dusan has been using sma...

Review: Sony Xperia L

Overview The days of Sony Ericsson are long gone, with Sony pushing its own smartphone brand to the fore, aided by the excellent Xperia Z . In a smartphone market that is becoming ever more populated, the Sony Xperia L sits towards the bottom, looking up at the aforementioned Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 , and the Xperia SP. Sitting on contract prices seen on Vodafone at around £20pm, and with a £229 (around $250, AU$270) SIM free price tag, the Xperia L is left to fight it out price wise against the ageing Samsung Galaxy S3 , the newer Nokia Lumia 620 and even the powerful Huawei Ascend P6 . It will also have to prove it has the means to overcome the ZTE Blade V , Huawei Ascend Y300 and Nokia Lumia 520 , handsets that have already established themselves at the base end. Oh, and lets not forget about the excellent Moto G . Sony want to sell the Xperia L based on its camera technology, the 8MP Exmor RS sensor on the back, with Sony claiming that if camera engineers made a smartphone, it would...
