Hands-on review: CES 2014: Neptune Pine Smartwatch

Just like there are big screen phablets, there are also big screen smartphones. Neptune's Pine Smartwatch is by far the largest wearable device we've ever slapped onto our wrists. Featuring a 2.4-inch screen, Pine has no reservations to replace smartphones. It's big. Let's just get that out of the way. To put that in perspective, the Pine's screen is about just shy of being half the size of the iPhone 5S' screen size. It's definitely a step up from other wearable devices we've seen like the 1.63-inch screened Samsung Galaxy Gear and Pebble with a 1.26-inch screen. The Pine smartwatch's face is about 2-inches wide on its own and the device sticks out about an inch and a half. Even the band on the back of the smartwatch gets to be about one and half inches wide. Pebble smartwatch on sale for $120 at Amazon and Best Buy

Heads up, folks: If you're still looking to get a Pebble smartwatch, Amazon currently has them on sale for $120  — that's 20 percent off the full retail price. Best Buy does, too . Best Buy Canada now selling Pebble smartwatch for $149

And you can buy any color, as long as it's black Canadians, rejoice! You can now buy a Pebble from Best Buy for the same reasonable price as those in the U.S. — $149. Although it has been available through various means in different countries, including direct from Pebble's website, it has really only been reliably available from stores in the U.S. up until recently. If you've been holding out in Canada for a big retailer to pick up the Pebble, now's the time to get one for yourself. Unfortunately it looks like the only color on offer at this point is black, and the site indicates that limited supply is available.
