Now Android 5.1 spotted running on 2nd gen Moto G

Although Google has revealed the existence of Android 5.1, and there have even been reports that the new version is already being rolled out in Android One markets markets like Indonesia, it isn?t yet clear when the update will roll out for other Android devices. However, that might happen soon, as a 2nd gen Motorola Moto G (shown above) has been spotted running Android 5.1. According to a report from Techdroider, ?the build seems to be of 2nd Feb and may be Motorola is still testing it.? Given that neither Motorola, nor Google has confirmed this, and the image was forwarded by one of the website?s followers, the news should be taken with a healthy pinch of salt, though. 72% of Apple devices running iOS8 already

This month's numbers for iOS distribution are in and the current iOS8 claims 72%, Apple reports. The information is based on App Store access statistics and is current as of February 2. iOS8 is up a notch from last month's 68% while iOS7 surrenders 4% of its share and is at 25% this month. iOS6 and earlier versions retain their marginal 3% of market share. Even so, the iOS8 rate of adoption falls behind the iOS7 from a year ago, which commanded an 80% percent adoption in the same period. The latest 8.1.3 update featured stability improvements and the perceived maturity iOS8 has reached after initial issues has provided enough incentive for users to upgrade. Either way, the number of devices, booting the latest version of iOS is massive, compared to its Android counterpart. As we reported, Lollipop only just made it to the distribution chart, with the huge variety of devices by numerous manufacturers being the culprit. Source View the original article here

Here is the breakdown of what Android version AC readers are running

AndroidCentral readers love them some Kit Kat I love data and charts. Really love them, like totally nerd out over them. Last week, we put up a poll asking you which version of Android you were running . I knew I could use your answers and do something with them. Thus, the quarterly AC reader version charts were born. And this pretty chart that is totally a remix of Google's. For now, this is just for discussion purposes. We can compare it to December 2013 numbers from Google themselves  and see a few things. The first, and biggest, is that we love our Kit Kat . I'm sure a larger percentage of our readers (compared to the general population) have one of the few phones or tablets running Android 4.4 , and the number of people who said screw it, then rooted and did it themselves is going to be a much higher percentage than normal folks.  The second thing that jumps out at me here is the very low number of people running Gingerbread . Compared to Google's 24.1 percent ...

Motorola running short-term $150 off Moto X deal with Today Show

Deal running for 'about 24 hours,' requires registration for a coupon code Happen to catch the Today Show this morning? Well if you missed it, the last day of their "12 Days of Christmas" was today, and one of the two deals available is for a Moto X. In a pretty clever bit of marketing to hit a new audience with the Today Show, Motorola is offering $150 off an off-contract Moto X, or 50 percent off an on-contract one if you're buying from a U.S. carrier. That's the same off-contract deal it offered for Cyber Monday . Here's how it works. If you're interested in the deal, you can follow the source link below to a Motorola page where you have to enter your information — name, email address, etc. — along with the code "todayshow50," and select whether you'll be buying an on- or off-contract Moto X. Check a box indicating you're over 16 years old, and you'll be emailed a coupon code to redeem for a discount when you make your Mot...

Android running Nikon camera surfaces again, this time through pictures

Posted in: Android, Digital cameras 4 hours ago by Prasad We have reported in the past about Nikon working on an Android based point and shoot camera. Nikon Rumors have now published some pictures that are allegedly of this yet to be announced camera. The camera in question looks like your usual point and shooter from the front, until you get to the back where you’ll find a large touchscreen along with the usual physical Android navigation keys. To be honest, something about this picture doesn’t seem right. If Nikon is putting Android on their cameras, something tells me they won’t just put up a stock Android ROM on there, complete with an alarm and music player app, which seem out of place on a camera. Instead, they would probably try to make the UI seem more like their existing cameras while maintaining Android specific features such as image sharing or a web browser, rather than make it look like a generic Android phone’s UI. Nikon Rumors have pictures of two more cameras that s...

Acer Iconia Tab A110 spotted once again, this time running Jelly Bean

Posted in: Android, Tablets 19 hours ago by Prasad We first saw the Acer Iconia Tab A110 couple of months ago in June. Back then it seemed like a really good tablet for the $200 price tag but we haven’t heard from it since, especially after the launch of the Nexus 7. Now it has surfaced again, this time courtesy of an online UK retailer Ebuyer. What’s more important is that now it seems to be running on Jelly Bean. The images show a striking resemblance to the Nexus 7 UI, down to the placement of the keys below the display and the notification bar on the top, something that you will find only on the Nexus 7 in the Android tablet world. Not that it’s a bad thing. Other specs remain the same as before. You still get a quad-core, 1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 7-inch, 1024 x 600 resolution display, 8GB internal memory with microSD card slot and HDMI out. There is no mention of the price this time but hopefully Acer will stick to the sub-$200 price tag that they previously promised. So...
