Microsoft Lumia 1330/1335 certified by FCC, dummies arrive in India

The successor to the midrange Lumia 1320 phablet is closely approaching. Apparently Microsoft is preparing its launch in India, as evidenced by dummy import documents. What is likely going to be called Lumia 1330/1335 will hit the market in no less than three color schemes. Orange will be the lead color, outnumbering the rest 7 to 1. Less striking options are white and cyan, and the latter we've already seen, if only only as a back cover. Globally speaking, the upcoming midranger will exist in multiple variants, and three are known so far. Intel on two of those comes from FCC database, showing the regulator has green-lighted the RM-1065 and RM-1064 models. The former is the more exciting one, as it will pack dual SIM capability and support LTE. The RM-1064 will be largely the same device, only ditching the second SIM card. The RM-1062, that will arrive in India, as evidenced by the 8,000 units, will lose the 4G connectivity. We previously reported on the alleged specs of the Lumi...

Lumia 1020 and 925 get Denim update in Europe

The Lumia 1020 and 925 are finally getting the long-awaited Denim update in select European markets. Today Microsoft confirmed that the roll-out has officially begun but as usual it might take some time to reach every device out there. Different carrier update schedules can affect availability just as much as geographical location. One of our readers from Hungary has already provided us with a screenshot of the OTA and everything seems to check out. So if you own a Lumia 1020 or Lumia 925 be sure to check regularly over the next few days for the update package and report back with any interesting findings. News has already surfaced that O2 in the UK will start updating their units today, but things can get a little messy when searching for availability. The US Lumia 1020 for instance is available exclusively through AT&T and they are yet to share any information on update plans. In case you find it hard to make sense of it all, Microsoft is providing nicely organized version tab...

The Microsoft Lumia 532, which was unveiled last month, may go on sale in India soon, given that its stock has started arriving in the country, as revealed by import tracking website Zauba (see the below image). Dual-SIM Microsoft Lumia 435 is now available in India

The Microsoft Lumia 435, which was unveiled in mid-January, has today become available to buy in India. We're talking about the dual-SIM version of the handset, which is currently being offered in white and black by Microsoft's online store for the subcontinent. Green and orange color versions were also presented during the phone's official unveiling, but so far those have not been launched in India. Perhaps they will arrive in the future. If you want to buy a Lumia 435 from Microsoft, you need to pay INR 5,999. At the current exchange rates, that means $96 or ?85. That's pretty close to the ?70 price before taxes that Microsoft touted last month. The software giant's Indian online store claims you'll receive your brand new Lumia 435 in 4 working days if you order one. In this instance, the price is low because the hardware isn't anything to get excited about. The Lumia 435 sports a 4-inch 480x800 touchscreen, a 2 MP rear camera, and a VGA secondary shoote...

Lumia RM-1099 with 4-inch display under testing in India

The Lumia RM-1099 successfully passed certification in Indonesia last month, but sadly there were neither specifications, nor photos of the device available at that time because unlike other certification processes, the Indonesian authorities don?t reveal any details regarding the product. However, it is now being reported that the device is getting tested in India, and the good news is that a couple its specifications have been revealed. According to an entry on Indian import tracking website Zauba (the first entry in the image above), the Lumia RM-1099 is a low-end device having a 4-inch display and dual-SIM support. Aside from the RM-1099, the RM-1110 and RM-1069 also recently passed certification in Indonesia. Via View the original article here

Video: CNET, “Nokia Lumia Icon has the goods”

CNet have got a quick hands on with the Nokia Lumia ICON – which they describe as a shrunken 5? version of a phone with the capabilities of the Nokia Lumia 1520. The shape and the colour is said to fit Verizon’s more somber shades. The straight edges mean it can stand up on its own. The curve at the back makes it comfortable to hold. 5? but still triple column. Smaller but still tappable. 1080p resolution makes everything very crisp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqslxzwLrJU Jess finds it a little bit heavy/thick/bland for her taste, but she says you do get that really nice camera and fast processor. BTW, for those finding this ‘heavy’ please compare what they said about the Xperia Z1. Also 5?. The Nokia Lumia ICON weighs in at 167g. The Xperia Z1 weighs 170g. Hands On With The Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon

Due to the inclement weather across the U.S., our Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon review unit arrived a little late, but as they say, better late than never! We’re hard at work on the full review, but just wanted to give you a quick look at Nokia’s latest Lumia device. Not only does the Lumia Icon rock amazing specs, a beefed out camera and a sexy design, it came in a huge 007 like case complete with glowing red LED lights inside the case. Also included are red Nokia Monster PurityPro wireless headphones, which go all the way up to 11. Opening the case up kinda made me feel like Ryan Gosling in Drive. And then I was looking over my shoulder for Cylons. So many emotions. Anyway… As far as specs go, this Windows Phone is a powerhouse. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 runs the show, clocked at an amazing 2.2GHz. The Lumia Icon touts 2 GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. A 5 inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD OLED display commands attention, and is protected by a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. The screen...

It also packs a 20 Mp pureview camera, and four directional microphones for amazing sound capture “thanks to our high-performance digital mics, noise reduction and those magical software algorithms.”. The display is made of curved Gorilla glass 3, and has almost 180 degree viewing angles, meaning that full HD display will surely look amazing. The wait is over. As part of the Nokia Lumia Icon launch, NokiaUS have released a video that compares the Samsung Galaxy SIV audio against that from the quadmic Rich Recording Nokia Lumia Icon. Note how the video quality looks in the Nokia Lumia Icon. It appears to have gone back to the ‘Purer’ more natural colours vs the high saturation we’re used to with Lumia and other competitors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMT442XIfjo Just the Icon audio. Video & Gallery: Nokia Lumia 1320 Unboxing and Impressions

Along with the super-specced and super-large Lumia 1520 comes a second phablet, one that’s a bit more reasonable in terms of specs; making it more affordable, the Nokia Lumia 1320. This is our unboxing. The Lumia 1320, similar to the 1520 is a 6? beast, with a 720 p display instead of the Full HD 1080p one in the 1520, the 1320 clocks out with a ppi of 245, which is acceptable for the intended price-range of the device. The screen is an LCD IPS Gorilla glass 3 display, with Nokia’s amazing Clear Black display, meaning what it lacks in pixels it makes up for in actual display quality.  Inside the Lumia 1320 is well equipped to deal with the featherweight requests of Windows Phone, with a Dual core 1.7 Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor and 1 Gb of ram it essentially has the same processor as the Lumia 920 (which has a 1.5 GHz S4).  The 1320 has pretty much the same size and dimensions as the 1520, also sharing the same weight range (220 grams), meaning if you’re comfortable with one, you’ll ...

Steve Litchfield compares the cameras Nokia Lumia 1520 against the 1020

Steve Litchfield over at AllAboutWindowsPhone has put the Nokia Lumia 1520 against the Nokia Lumia 1020. The Nokia Lumia 1520 looks great. Seeing what the 1020 can produce however, just shows how good a camera they’ve packed in the 1020. Xenon’s crispness is also a must for me, though I am surprised (as was Steve) how clear the ‘movement’ shot is in Steve’s pic that 500ml in the bottle is readable (for LED). Can you imagine one day should ‘Nokia’ get LED as good as their xenon? A neat point Steve makes is how the 1520's camera will be seen in many more models (as per the 920). This would be great as it sees the general Nokia level of cameras rise all over again. Instead of having one super camera phone (e.g. N8 camera and then E7/E6 camera) for that year, you have several fantastic ones ones. http://allaboutwindowsphone.com/features/item/19120_The_Lumia_1520_stills_camera_h.php Cheers Alvester for the tip! Nokia Lumia 1320 hits Australian shelves Feb 4; AUD$449 price tag

The Nokia Lumia 1320, Nokia’s budget “phablet” that we saw at Nokia World last year, has been slowly releasing around Asia-Pacific. Today we got word that it’ll be hitting Australia at the beginning of next month, specifically February 4th, and priced outright and unlocked at AUD$449. Pretty great price if you ask me! The Lumia 1320 will also be on-contract through Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. Source: News.com.au Category : Nokia Hi! My name is Michael. Like the others, I'm also a Student, living here in Sydney. Nokia working on Lumia 1520 Mini?

Guess what? Nokia may join the “Mini” craze later this year. The new rumor suggests the company is working on a smaller version of its Lumia 1520 flagship. We’re still not sure whether it will be actually called Lumia 1520 Mini or, more likely, will have some other “Lumia name.” Specs wise, this device will apparently come with 2GB of RAM, 3,000 mAh battery, 14-megapixel PureView camera, wireless charging support and 32GB of internal storage. In addition, it will reportedly have a 4.3-inch full HD screen, which is somewhat ludicrous. That’s a crazy PPI count by any stretch of imagination — “standard” 720p HD display is more than good enough for such small screen. Anyway, the story goes on suggesting that we won’t be seeing the Lumia 1520 Mini before April when Microsoft should released Windows Phone 8.1. We’ll be on the lookout for new information and let you know as soon as we have something new to add. Stay tuned in the meantime… [Via: WMpoweruser] Dusan has been using smartphones ...

Nokia Lumia 929 goes on sale in China

You got that right, the Nokia Lumia 929 is now available at TaoBao in China. And that’s apparently the same or at least very similar model to the one that will soon be available from Verizon Wireless. It even has Verizon’s logo all over it. Go figure. The price of the unlocked unit is set at 3,800 Yuan which translates into some $630. The Big Red carrier will subsidize the handset, most likely offering it for some $200 on a two-year contract. Yeah, we’re not sure why it takes so long for Verizon to launch this phone. It already got FCC’s seal of approval and has been even spotted at the carrier’s website. It should be out any day now, but then again – we thought the same thing back in December. Anyhow, for those of you who missed it, the Lumia 929 aka Lumia Icon is the Windows Phone to get. It comes with all the latest bells and whistles, including Qualcomm’s fast Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, PureView camera on the back, 5-inch full HD screen, 4G LTE connectivity suppor...

Hands-on review: Updated: Nokia Lumia 2520

We're working on our Lumia 2520 review - we'll be bringing you the results next week. In the mean time enjoy Nokia's finally done what we've been thinking it will do for years: brought out a tablet. Alright, you could argue that the likes of the N800 were pretty close, but in the Lumia 2520 it's finally got something to rival the iPad. Perhaps it won't do so on sales. Nor on user opinion. But it's the first salvo in a war its newly-acquired sugar daddy, Microsoft, desperately wants it to fight in. And on paper, it doesn't look terrible. Say what you want about Windows RT 8.1 (and you can reasonably say a fair amount of nasty things) it doesn't stink as a tablet OS. On the Lumia 2520 it's fast, fluid and flicks along happily under the finger. The sometimes unresponsive Windows key happily takes you back and forth between apps, and there will be a number of users becoming much more au fait with Windows 8 in general. That's down to the improve...
