Temple Run completes one year, releases new update for iOS

Posted in: Gaming, iOS August 4th, 2012, 17:09 by Prasad Everybody’s favorite endless running game Temple Run has completed one year since its launch on iOS. In this time, the game has been downloaded over 100 million times, including downloads on Android. People have played over 10 billion sessions so far and spent close to 54,000 years combined running from evil monkeys. The game has also received an update on iOS, which brings the version number to 1.5. In this update, the game adds Retina display support for the iPad, along with 22 new objectives and a new powerup called PermaWings that can be enabled at the start of the level and stays on permanently until you die, at which point it automatically resurrects you. Other additions include ability to disable and enable individual powerups and some bug fixes. Unfortunately, this update is not yet available on Android. As before, the game is free of charge, so you can download and try it out right now. Source View the original article...

The final version of Windows 8 leaks online

Posted in: Windows August 3rd, 2012, 14:13 by Kyle Just yesterday Microsoft announced Windows 8 is finally ready and released to manufacturing. Today its Enterprise N version is all over the torrent servers. The N version stands for a stripped down version, which lacks the Windows Media Player – a requirement ruled by the European Commission 8 years ago. The leaked ISO is for the x64 version of the Enterprise N editions (there might be x86 somewhere too) and is not bootable. This means you must start the installation under Windows. There was another leak yesterday for the 32-bit standard version of Windows 8, but I have my doubts it might be fake. Anyway, it is now confirmed that the final build is 9200. I recommend you stay away from these early leaks for various reasons – they require activation so they might work only for a few (3-30) days, they might have some nasty viruses and also because one thing is for sure – come October, you’ll have to re-install Windows all over again. If...

Steve Jobs was allegedly “very receptive” to the idea about a 7-inch iPad

Well, this comes as a personal surprise to me. After publicly mocking 7-inch slates at one of Apple’s earning calls, it seems Steve Jobs after all, approved of the smaller-sized tablets. This came out as part of the evidence, presented in court in the heated Apple vs. Samsung trial. I’ve long dismissed all rumors of a 7-inch iPad Mini (iNotepad or whatever else it may be called), based solely on this past public statement by Steve Jobs that 7-inchers were no good. Period. Well, it seems that the good old sport might have had a change of heart in his last months. We don’t know for sure whether a real product had come up out of this, but I’m already starting to think that we may as well see an iPad Mini announced this year, as plenty of old and recent rumors suggest. Thanks to TheVerge.com , who have meticulously been documenting the high-profile hearings in the Apple/Samsung trial, we now know that the story went somewhere along these lines. In January 2011, Apple’s VP Eddy Cue (pictu...

Guardian photojournalist captures the London Olympics with little more than an iPhone

Posted in: Digital cameras, Fun stuff, iOS August 3rd, 2012, 16:23 by Johnny Dan Chung, a photojournalist on Guardian’s payroll has realized an interesting idea – capturing the all you can eat 2012 Summer Olympics action with a smartphone. The device in question is an iPhone – a 4 and 4S. To aid him in making the results matter he uses the Snapseed photo editing app and occasionally some add-ons like binoculars and special lenses. His photoblog-slash-Olympics-portfolio is very interesting. He posts regular updates with captured moments both on the floor of the London Olympics and off it – in the subways where he meets and snaps away at smiley-faced fans. Dan Chung uses a Schneider lens to capture fisheye pictures, or sometimes Canon binoculars to get closer to the action. Finally, he edits the end results with Snapseed, which is an iOS app with some heavy adjusting tools to tune a photo’s saturation, depth of field, color efects, etc. Source | Via View the original article here

Get Instant Answers With The Handy QikCalc Length Converter

Brisbane, Australia – Independent iOS developer Nigel Green is pleased to announce the immediate availability of QikCalc Length Converter v1.1 on the App Store. As part of a series of conversion apps, QikCalc Length Converter shares an interface design that provides instant user feedback. There are no dials to turn or switches to flip – simply choose the units, type a number and get an instant answer. QikCalc Length Converter contains 10 different length units (4 metric and 6 imperial) and is available for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Developer Nigel Green said that he used this same simplicity in his tried-and-true interface that he first designed for his very successful cooking conversion app, CookCalc. “The interface allows people of any age to instantly get their answers, without needing to do anything more than touch two buttons (the to/from units) and enter the amount they want to convert.” he said. Upon launching the app there is no loading screen. In just over a second, the ap...

Angry Birds Space Red Planet update coming this fall, teaser trailer confirms

Posted in: Android, Gaming, iOS 11 hours ago by Vince Rovio is hard at work on an update to its Angry Birds Space game. The update is simply called “Red Planet”, and is pretty suggestive as to what it will contain. Back in June, Angry Birds Space marked its 100th milion download, so it’s only logical for Rovio to build on the title’s success. The company also issued a teaser video for the update, which, naturally, doesn’t reveal much. Here’s the video. You can bet Rovio will release more teasers as the launch of the update approaches, so stay tuned, Angry Birds fans! Via View the original article here
