Android running Nikon camera surfaces again, this time through pictures

Posted in: Android, Digital cameras 4 hours ago by Prasad We have reported in the past about Nikon working on an Android based point and shoot camera. Nikon Rumors have now published some pictures that are allegedly of this yet to be announced camera. The camera in question looks like your usual point and shooter from the front, until you get to the back where you’ll find a large touchscreen along with the usual physical Android navigation keys. To be honest, something about this picture doesn’t seem right. If Nikon is putting Android on their cameras, something tells me they won’t just put up a stock Android ROM on there, complete with an alarm and music player app, which seem out of place on a camera. Instead, they would probably try to make the UI seem more like their existing cameras while maintaining Android specific features such as image sharing or a web browser, rather than make it look like a generic Android phone’s UI. Nikon Rumors have pictures of two more cameras that s...

Apple became the most valuable company in history

Posted in: Various 17 hours ago by Stefan With its shares’ price going past the $660 mark today, Apple reached a market capitalization of over $620 billion, thus becoming the most valuable company ever. The Cupertino based behemoth has taken the title from its rival Microsoft, which at one point was valued at $618.9 billion. With the next generation iPhone and another iPad model lurking around the corner, we can reasonably expect Apple’s market capitalization to reach even bigger heights. So, don’t be surprised if you hear the $1 trillion market capitalization talk intensify even further. Source | Via View the original article here

Why New Zealand is the extreme sports capital

Discover why we've been hanging out in adrenalin rush central and what makes it so very hardcore. New Zealand is not for the faint hearted. Just ask the guys and gals who’ve been mule kicking, cannonballing and miller flipping off peaks in the first ever Burton ‘High Fives’ snowboarding competition. With a little tech magic from Nokia, this cool event showcased the Kiwi’s passion for hardcore sports perfectly. But what makes this island country such a magnet for the madly adventurous? It dares you! Temperate climate all year round, a third of its glorious land marked for conservation, but less than four million people. Not just filmic in the Frodo Baggins sense – it screams ‘I dare you’ thrills from every sun-buttered stone. Add history – that mighty Maori heritage and the influx of nineteenth century gold-seeking Europeans crafting skis to get around. Then spectacular caves littered with glow worms and sulphurous pools secreted in the woods. Perfect. Upside down on elastic – real...

Face Swap on your Nokia Lumia

What’s better than taking photos of your friends while poking silly faces? Swapping their faces around afterwards, that’s what. Face Swap is a fun app for your Nokia Lumia that pulls the faces off two of your friends and slaps them on the other’s head; digitally speaking, of course. With a bevy of apps out there that add blurry, grainy or coloured filters to your photos, this one is slightly different and there aren’t many on the market that do it this well. Using clever algorithms (I imagine that’s what happens) Face Swap searches for faces in the photo and delicately cuts them out then stitches them – almost – seamlessly together. We say almost, because there’s a knack to getting this right. When you stand your two friends side-by-side make sure their heads are pointing in the same direction. If they’re looking in different directions the face-transplant won’t look right and you’ll have to take the photo again. However, get it right and what you’re left with is an often hilarious p...

Love at first sight with the Nokia 808 PureView

The founder of the PureView Club website Marc Wielaert talks to Nokia Conversations We all know that the Nokia 808 PureView made quite a splash when it was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year.  Almost immediately, the blogosphere became smitten with its 41-megapixel sensor, cutting edge optics and advanced algorithms that produced images on a par, if not better, than digital SLR cameras. Marc Wielaert is an enthusiastic blogger from Hilversum in the Netherlands, who runs the smartphone-review.nl website and he was in attendance at Barcelona for the launch. It’s fair to say that the 808 PureView made quite an impression on him as well. In fact, Marc, who has been using and testing camera phones for over decade, became so infatuated with the device that he set up a website dedicated to spreading the word about PureView technology. The PureView Club, run by Marc and his webmaster Peter Buijsman, has now been going for a couple of months and already boasts...
