Nokia working on Lumia 1520 Mini?

Guess what? Nokia may join the “Mini” craze later this year. The new rumor suggests the company is working on a smaller version of its Lumia 1520 flagship. We’re still not sure whether it will be actually called Lumia 1520 Mini or, more likely, will have some other “Lumia name.” Specs wise, this device will apparently come with 2GB of RAM, 3,000 mAh battery, 14-megapixel PureView camera, wireless charging support and 32GB of internal storage. In addition, it will reportedly have a 4.3-inch full HD screen, which is somewhat ludicrous. That’s a crazy PPI count by any stretch of imagination — “standard” 720p HD display is more than good enough for such small screen. Anyway, the story goes on suggesting that we won’t be seeing the Lumia 1520 Mini before April when Microsoft should released Windows Phone 8.1. We’ll be on the lookout for new information and let you know as soon as we have something new to add. Stay tuned in the meantime… [Via: WMpoweruser] Dusan has been using smartphones ...

Xiaomi working on LTE-enabled Mi3, Hongmi M1S and octa-core Hongmi 2

Xiaomi is preparing to unveil a new series of devices in the near future, Chinese media is reporting. Among devices that will soon be announced are the LTE-enabled Mi3, Hongmi M1S and octa-core Hongmi 2. The first of the three is needed if the Chinese firm ever wants to expand to Western markets where users take 4G LTE connectivity for granted. In order to make this possible, Xiaomi will apparently use the latest Snapdragon 800 chip (MSM8974AC) in this model (marked as Mi3S). Then comes the Hongmi M1S which sets to redefine what a mid-range device can do. You see, this phone will sport a MediaTek-made 1.7Ghz MT6592 octa-core chip. Despite rocking 8 cores, this processer is slower than Snapdragon 800, but fast nonetheless. Finally, the Hongmi 2 will be launched, boasting a similar (to the M1S) octa-core processor and a big 5.5-inch screen. That’s an impressive line-up when you think about. We’re pretty certain this will be a big year for Xiaomi as it’s preparing to conquer new markets…...

EXCLUSIVE: Samsung is reportedly working on a Galaxy S III-based 16MP point-and-shoot

Posted in: Android, Digital cameras, Featured, Rumors August 24th, 2012, 12:49 by Peter A tipster just sent us some really interesting gossip – Samsung is working on a Galaxy S III-based point-and-shoot camera. The convergence device – called Samsung Galaxy S camera – features the trademark 4.8? SuperAMOLED screen and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (no info on the chipset though). Yes, it does sound a bit too good to be true, but let’s dream for a moment and here what our tipster (who has proven reliable on previous occasions) has to say about this camera he claims to have seen with his own eye two weeks ago. The Samsung Galaxy S camera is described as a Galaxy S III glued to the back of a point-and-shoot camera, with no physical buttons on the back. It is reportedly 1.5 to 2 times thicker than an S III, but that seems too little given the rumored 10x zoom. The camera will feature a 16MP sensor of unkown size, a pop-out Xenon flash and a curved right side to help with the ergonomics....

Nikon found to have been working on Android-based Coolpix S800 camera

Posted in: Android, Digital cameras 3 hours ago by Prasad Cameras running Android is not exactly a new concept. Polaroid showcased the SC1630 earlier this year at CES and even Samsung is said to have been working on a similar device. Now we are hearing that Nikon too is working on an Android based camera and there is some proof to back that claim as well. This information comes courtesy an Indonesian Communication filing from July 2012 that shows a product named Coolpix S800c (or S800), which is said to be running Android 2.3, Gingerbread. According to Nikon Rumors , the expected features of this camera include a 25-250mm lens, 3.5-inch OLED display, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi. They also say that the camera will run all apps from the Google Play Store, although that seems unlikely. The possible announcement date for this product is said to be August 22. While you may not exactly be able to play games on this camera, what the inclusion of Android means is that you will be able to install...
