No matter how responsive or intuitive they get, they’ve never quite been able to match the versatility of a mouse. It looks like trackpads may be getting the much-needed upgrade they deserve, thanks to a breakthrough technology by Synaptic. The new ForcePad trackpad technology by Synaptic not only detects how much pressure is exerted onto the trackpad, put also adds support for up to five fingers. This allows for numerous advanced gestures made by a combination of fingers used and force applied. Synaptic has also been able to eliminate the need for a dedicated click area, and reduce the overall thickness of the trackpad to only 2.8 mm. This means more room for other components and a thinner chassis. Most of Sony’s Xperia smartphones introduced in 2011 have already received Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This being said, Sony announced a new series of updates for its handsets launched last year. The updates won’t bring a newer version of Android (although Jelly Bean is a possibility in the future), but “bug fixes, performance tweaks and other improvements.” The Xperia Arc (pictured below), Xperia Arc S, Xperia Ray, Xperia Neo, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Mini, Xperia Pro, and Xperia Active will receive their updates starting this week. Zombies, coming in late spring next year. PvZ is one of the best known mobile games on Android and iOS (among others) and probably the most popular lane tower defense game ever. Its gameplay revolves around fending off hordes of hilariously quirky, awkward-dressed, zombies with a large selection of sharp-shooting plants. The press release doesn’t state what new twists the game will offer, except hordes of new plant and zombie types.
