Introducing 2012 Map: The Presidential Election App

Taipei, Taiwan – Independent app developer, Cory Renzella is pleased to announce the release of “2012 Map: The Presidential Election App”. Now available in the “News” category of the App Store, “2012 Map” lets you create, save, and share 2012 presidential election scenarios in a quick and easy way. This iOS app is a must-have for anyone interested in American politics and presidential elections.

It includes a “Live” map that is updated every day with the newest polls; “Historical” maps that detail every election, from 1789 through 2008; and a “New” blank map that you can customize from scratch.

In presidential elections, it’s the electoral vote that matters most. That vote is determined by the states each candidate wins, and whether you’re interested in historical elections or the 2012 election, “2012 Map: The Presidential Election App” covers it all.

According to Cory Renzella, the app’s creator, “This app focuses on what really matters in the election, and it’s got something for everyone. History buffs can read about the controversial election of 1876, when Rutherford Hayes beat Samuel Tilden by a single electoral vote; people who are focused on the current race can look at polling details in every state and see that on August 9, Romney was holding a slight 47.5% to 46.5% lead over Obama in North Carolina; and people who simply want to create their own scenarios can start from a blank map, experimenting to see what the map would look like if a Republican swept the south, a Democrat took the coasts, and a third-party candidate had a strong showing out West.”

2012 Map has already risen to as high as number three in the “Paid Apps” chart in the “News” category. It is currently being featured in the “News” category, and on August 12, mobile app site Appolicious.com named it as one of its “iOS Apps of the Week”.

Features:

* A “Live” map is updated once each day with the most recent polling data, giving you the best estimate of what will happen on November 6.

* “Historical” maps show you every presidential election result, from 1789 through 2008, and include notes and state-by-state results for each election.

* States can be tapped to change their colors (red, blue, or gray, with light red and light blue colors for “leaning Republican” and “leaning Democrat”, and a green “3rd Party” color).

* States can be touched for one second to reveal their details (e.g., each candidate’s percentage, the state’s electoral votes, and its previous winners).

* Scenarios can be shared with family and friends on Facebook, Twitter, or e-mail, allowing you to see if your friends agree, disagree, or have their own election scenarios.

Device Requirements
* Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 4.0 or later
* 5.8 MB

Pricing and Availability:
2012 Map: The Presidential Election App 1.0 is available for $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) in the “News” category of the App Store.

Meizu Russia confirms “Ubuntu rumors”

Yup, just as we’ve told you before, Ubuntu is coming to a Meizu smartphone near you. We still don’t have the official announcement, but details keep coming.,, The latest information (or that’s confirmation) comes from Meizu Russia, which says that Meizu engineers are in fact working on an Ubuntu version of the Meizu MX3. The work is apparently still underway to make things stable, and in the meantime they [engineers] are also working on a new version of Android-based Flyme ROM for both the Meizu MX2 and MX3, adding that Ubuntu won’t be released until the updated Flyme ROM is launched. It is said that Meizu will use Ubuntu as its ticket to the US market later in the year. At that time, we may also see either a revamped MX3 model or the whole new MX4 smartphone that will sport even better hardware under the hood. As usual, we’ll be on the lookout for any news coming from the Ubuntu camp and let you know as soon as we have something new to add. Stay tuned… [Via: GizChina] Dusan has been...
