Oppo N1 CyanogenMod Edition passes Google CTS, launching Dec. 24

The "CyanogenMod Edition" Oppo N1  — the limited edition version with CM 10.2 out of the box — has passed Google's Android Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) and is scheduled to become available from Dec. 24. It's the first time a CyanogenMod-powered phone has passed Google's tests, which are designed to ensure device security and compatibility with apps in the Android ecosystem. The news was shared on the CM-dev mailing list and on Twitter by manufacturer Oppo, which gave glimpse of the exclusive packaging, stickers and case included with the device. Writing on the CM-dev list, community lead Abhisek Devkota (better known as ciwrl) described it as "a major milestone for everyone in this project," adding "aside from root access, we were not forced to make any compromises in terms of features or functionality." The CM Edition Oppo N1 isn't listed on the manufacturer's online store just yet, but the vanilla N1 recently launched in the U.S....

Google Play edition Z Ultra software bug prevents uninstalling applications

Critical software flaw restarts UI when trying to remove a user-installed application A second ugly software bug has reared its head in the Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition . Applications installed from Google Play can't be uninstalled — the process instead causes the entire phone UI to restart. This is the second serious bug found in the software on the Z Ultra, the first being no way to open the "Security" section of the device settings, as found by JR Raphael  at Computerworld .  Both bugs are more than mere inconvenience to the user, and present security as well as usability concerns. This latest bug affects all user-installed apps, and is present regardless of network state. We were unable to test side loaded applications, as access to side loading is currently blocked because we can't get into the security settings. LG Optimus L7 Pink Edition

The pink LG Optimus L7 (LG-P705) smartphone will be launched in Taiwan next month. Apart from this version, this LG smartphone is already available in a few markets including Asia, Europe, and Canada but the Optimus L7 has only in black and white color options. New LG Optimus L7 smartphone was officially introduced during MWC 2012 as one of their L-Style series. According to source, the specification of LG Optimus L7 pink edition is unchanged from the original version. The pink Optimus L7 P705 boasts a single-core processor with clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of onboard storage, and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. New pink version of LG Optimus L7 smartphone has a 4.3-inch touchscreen WVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera on the back, and a front-facing VGA camera. Samsung Galaxy S III red edition

Joined the regular white and blue versions, AT&T has also launching an exclusive red edition of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone. According to source, this smartphone should be available for pre-order starts July 15th and in-store on July 29th. There is no word on pricing of the red Samsung Galaxy S III yet but the blue and white models are sold at $199.99 on contract. Unlike Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon, which offering the 32GB and 16GB variant; but AT&T is sell only the 16GB edition of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone.
