Best Buy Canada now selling Pebble smartwatch for $149

And you can buy any color, as long as it's black Canadians, rejoice! You can now buy a Pebble from Best Buy for the same reasonable price as those in the U.S. — $149. Although it has been available through various means in different countries, including direct from Pebble's website, it has really only been reliably available from stores in the U.S. up until recently. If you've been holding out in Canada for a big retailer to pick up the Pebble, now's the time to get one for yourself. Unfortunately it looks like the only color on offer at this point is black, and the site indicates that limited supply is available. But we won't ever look this gift horse in the mouth — hit the source link to order yours now. Source: Best Buy (Canada)

Through Glass: Learning to explore

First in our new series of weekly columns on how we're living with Google Glass. I feel like I should be exploring something, right? That's the whole point of this Google Glass "Explorers" program. Get out into the world and do amazing things with this $1,500 space-age contraption strapped to my face. Instead, I can count on one hand the number of times I've dared to venture out of my house wearing Glass. Ask anyone who has Google Glass  — or just be in the same room with anyone who's got Glass — and you quickly realize that these things attract attention. Curious onlookers, excited nerds, skeptics who worry that we're recording their every move. (Hint: We're not. You're not that exciting.) They all want to know what it really does. Try it for themselves. What's it like ? That's a good thing. In that respect, Glass is already a success — getting folks to talk about the technology, good or bad. But you've got to admit that it can b...

Verizon introduces $5 'Daily Plan' 300MB data pass for tablets

New plan targeted at infrequent mobile data users Verizon is hoping to get more people hooked on mobile data for their tablets with a new $5 "Daily Plan." The new plan slots in below the previous low offering of $20 for 1GB of data each month, and gives you 24 hours of access to 300MB of data, with the plan running out at whichever limit you reach first. The new Daily Plan is applicable to any of Verizon's tablets or connected devices, like a Samsung Galaxy Camera, and can be used as many times as you please. For example you could simply string together three Daily Plans for 900MB over those three days for $15, but anywhere past that and you'd likely prefer to just sign up for a monthly plan or pay the $10 to add the tablet to a Share Everything plan. It isn't exactly the best deal in the world considering T-Mobile is offering any tablet (whether they sell it or not) 200MB of data per month for free , but if you're already a Verizon customer you may wan...

Sprint Spark: theoretical speeds are theoretical

A step in the right direction for Sprint coverage and data speeds When Sprint first launched its Spark LTE technology earlier this month , our curiosity was piqued. Utilizing 800MHz, 1.9GHz and 2.5GHz frequencies, supported devices would be capable of reaching speeds of up to 60 Mbps in any of the five rollout markets, including New York, LA, Chicago, Miami and Tampa. With the carrier’s god awful 3G speeds and bumpy initial LTE rollout, the promise of being the fastest network in five of the largest consumer markets in the country seemed too good to be true. Unfortunately, at least for now, it is. read more
