Enhancing Quality of Experience (QoE) with Big Data in the Era of Mobile Video

Our lives have fundamentally changed with the widespread use of mobile devices. Mobile users on average spend more than 2 hours each day using their devices across dozens of different applications. Thanks to the wide coverage of mobile broadband networks these days, people are able to continually use mobile phones and tablets to communicate with friends, work while traveling and enjoy their lives. When we look at the content people enjoy on their mobile phones, we find that end users enjoy video content more and more. As a result, 40 to 60 percent of total mobile traffic comes from video. As end users are getting more dependent on video content and have less patience when they cannot enjoy smooth video experience because of repetitive buffering and stalling issues due to network congestion, it is getting critical for mobile service providers (MSPs) to ensure the best quality of experience (QoE) in video for their customers. MSPs have tried to prepare for a tsunami of data usage on the...

Video: CNET, “Nokia Lumia Icon has the goods”

CNet have got a quick hands on with the Nokia Lumia ICON – which they describe as a shrunken 5? version of a phone with the capabilities of the Nokia Lumia 1520. The shape and the colour is said to fit Verizon’s more somber shades. The straight edges mean it can stand up on its own. The curve at the back makes it comfortable to hold. 5? but still triple column. Smaller but still tappable. 1080p resolution makes everything very crisp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqslxzwLrJU Jess finds it a little bit heavy/thick/bland for her taste, but she says you do get that really nice camera and fast processor. BTW, for those finding this ‘heavy’ please compare what they said about the Xperia Z1. Also 5?. The Nokia Lumia ICON weighs in at 167g. The Xperia Z1 weighs 170g. Video: Hot rods, hot chick, Drag Race: Nokia Lumia Icon Vs. Samsung Galaxy S4

As part of the Nokia Lumia Icon launch, NokiaUS have released a video that compares the Samsung Galaxy SIV audio against that from the quadmic Rich Recording Nokia Lumia Icon. Note how the video quality looks in the Nokia Lumia Icon. It appears to have gone back to the ‘Purer’ more natural colours vs the high saturation we’re used to with Lumia and other competitors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMT442XIfjo Just the Icon audio. Video Promo: Make the moment iconic

Another promo for the Nokia Lumia Icon that’s just been launched today. It’s looking rather slick in the video (device wise) though the promo itself could look a little more than college project MyFirstCGI. New Nokia Lumia Icon captures life’s special moments, big and small, and plays them back like never before. Category : Lumia, Nokia, Windows Phone Hey, thanks for reading my post. Video & Gallery: Nokia Lumia 1320 Unboxing and Impressions

Along with the super-specced and super-large Lumia 1520 comes a second phablet, one that’s a bit more reasonable in terms of specs; making it more affordable, the Nokia Lumia 1320. This is our unboxing. The Lumia 1320, similar to the 1520 is a 6? beast, with a 720 p display instead of the Full HD 1080p one in the 1520, the 1320 clocks out with a ppi of 245, which is acceptable for the intended price-range of the device. The screen is an LCD IPS Gorilla glass 3 display, with Nokia’s amazing Clear Black display, meaning what it lacks in pixels it makes up for in actual display quality.  Inside the Lumia 1320 is well equipped to deal with the featherweight requests of Windows Phone, with a Dual core 1.7 Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor and 1 Gb of ram it essentially has the same processor as the Lumia 920 (which has a 1.5 GHz S4).  The 1320 has pretty much the same size and dimensions as the 1520, also sharing the same weight range (220 grams), meaning if you’re comfortable with one, you’ll ...

Video: Keyboard typing tips for Windows Phone

I thought I knew the WP keyboard quite well but I didn’t know about the swipe numbers thing (or perhaps forgotten it :/). It’s similar to swiping quick symbols when holding and ‘swyping’ to another punctuation but from the numbers end. But actually works better as you don’t have to ‘wait and hold’ you just press and drag. Pretty cool. BTW, the dedicated .com button. Without changing to a US language on my phone, how do I change my .co.uk button to .com? I rarely visit .co.uk addresses. WPCentral Category : Nokia Hey, thanks for reading my post. Video: In depth, high quality video review of the Nokia Lumia 1020 (Chinese)

Published way back in October but this is new to me. It’s a well produced, comprehensive review of the Nokia Lumia 1020. It’s half an hour long and unfortunately no closed captions to even attempt a translation. Very impressive work. Cheers Daniel Cheong for the tip! Category : Nokia Hey, thanks for reading my post. Amazon’s new Kindles teased in a video ad ahead of today’s announcements

Posted in: Mobile phones 29 minutes ago by Chavis All tech enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for Amazon’s announcement later today, where we should see the next generation of the Kindle ebook readers and the Kindle Fire tablet. It turns out, however, that Amazon already showed these in a video spot, which was aired yesterday. The commercial obviously shows what I was hoping for – that backlit (or sidelit, whatever) ebook readers are coming strong after Barnes&Noble debuted their illuminated Nook. It also shows that we’ll see a revamp of the Kindle Fire, and quite obviously, a bigger 10-inch version of that too (watch out for this at 0:53). But enough talking, enjoy the video. One question remains… Will we see the retail giant announce an Android smartphone as well? Source View the original article here
