HTC One (M9) Wi-Fi module and 20MP Toshiba camera tipped

According to HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR, the HTC One (M9) sports the same wireless module as the Nexus 6. The module in question is the Broadcom BCM4356, which features 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1. The update over the One (M8) isn't astronomical, as the current flagship also boasts Wi-Fi 802.11 ac connectivity, but not the latest Bluetooth standard. Additionally, the developer believes that the main camera of the One (M9) will utilize a 20MP Toshiba T4KA7 sensor. It's 1/2.4-inch in size and has a pixel size of 1.12?m. It was previously rumored that the phone will feature a dual 20MP setup, but recently leaked photos of the phone's back disproved this theory. We'll have everything there's to know about the HTC One (M9) on March 1 following the company's Utopia in progress event. There, HTC is expected to announce two variants of the flagship - One (M9) and One (M9) Plus. Both variants will pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3GB of RAM, and Android 5.0 ...

Nokia Camera Beta lands on Store for all WP8 Lumia phones

Here’s the official download for Nokia Camera for all WP8 Lumias. It requires the Lumia Amber update. http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/nokia-camera-beta/80b4b4a2-f7aa-49f0-b8ab-7b7390ce1014 via Reddit Hopefully that whilst the entry level devices have slightly less processing power, they have less MP to juggle to balance out shot-to-shot times. Nokia Camera times aren’t all the same. 925 (same Dual Core 1.5GHz as 1020) for example can take at least 2 shots in the time it takes the 1020. Even if the 1020 is just taking 5mp shots, it still has to process the initial 34/38mp. Category : Lumia, Nokia Hey, thanks for reading my post. Moto X KitKat update brings enhanced 'touch to focus' mode to the camera

Touch and drag to focus and expose your images, and it really works The camera on the Moto X is not going to win any awards. It won't turn you into Trey Ratcliff , it won't get you paid for your pictures by National Geographic, and it won't keep you warm in the evenings. But it opens fast, and with the new enhanced "touch to focus" mode that came with KtiKat it takes pictures a bit better than it did before. Previously, something was broken with touch to focus. Things seemed to focus on the center of the viewfinder no matter where you tried to move it to, and a lot of pictures showed this by being blurry and grainy. Focus and exposure are two of the most important things we need out of a small sensor camera (the third being good white balance and color correction) and part of the reason why pictures from your phone always look like pictures from your phone. Motorola wants the camera to be good . They used relatively good components , and are working on the...

Nokia Lumia 920 promo videos demo its PureView camera, PureMotion screen

Posted in: Mobile phones, Windows Phone 12 hours ago by Peter The Nokia Lumia 920 hosts a good deal of new tech features. The easiest way to figure out what they are is to watch these videos from Nokia, which do a good job of demonstrating them. First is the PureView camera – the 920 has an 8MP shooter with bright F/2.0 Carl Zeiss lens, image stabilization and “best in class” low-light performance. In Nokia’s own words: “It’s not about the number megapixels, but about how you use them”. The 4.5? WXGA (768×1280) LCD screen has something called “super sensitive touch”. We saw it demonstrated live and can detect touches even through thick gloves. It even worked with just you holding your car keys as an improvised stylus. The other big thing is the PureMotion HD+. No, it’s not PureView for video, it’s the successor of ClearBlack. The technology promises pixels that update more than twice faster than competing LCD’s. Nokia is also calling “the brightest screen”, though the official specs ...

Windows Phone 8 camera interface to support pinch zooming and third-party addons

Adding pinch-zooming to the camera interface is nothing to shout home about, but the addition of third-party plugins certainly is. All smartphone users have their favorite photo apps, but imagine having them all inside the main camera interface. That’s what the new camera lenses feature on Windows Phone 8 promises. As Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore demoed today, when you install a new camera-centric app from the Marketplace, it integrates as a sort of a lens, an add-on inside your main camera app. So when you start the camera, you have all the special effects, panoramas and image manipulation tricks, in one place. I love using all sorts of camera apps on my iPhone. Of course, I have several favorites, and I use them interchangeably. They all do the job of taking pictures just fine, but each comes with its own set of nice little features or filters so I just can’t pick a single all-time favorite. Of those, the standard vanilla camera app on the iPhone is the least feature-rich, but unfortuna...

Samsung Galaxy Camera extended hands-on

Today we got the chance to sit down with Samsung’s team and have a more thorough look at its recently announced products. First off, it was the Samsung Galaxy Camera. We tried it first-hand without the messy wires and we’re quite happy with how it felt. It has 21x optical zoom and at its widest end, the lens has an ultra wide angle of 23mm in 35mm terms and there’s a back-lit sensor behind it, which is impressive enough combo, even without counting the Android smart functionality. The Samsung Galaxy Camera There is a SIM slot that you can use for using a 3G data connection on the go. The standard 2.5 mm audio jack not only allows audio output, but you can also use it with a headset with a mic and even do a Skype chat on it (sorry no video chats). According to CIPA guidelines, the Galaxy Camera is rated at 280 shots, while according to Samsung’s own method of testing, the Galaxy camera should last up to 6 hours of continuous usage – and that includes everything – browsing web sites, wa...

CONFIRMED: Samsung Galaxy Camera has Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection

Posted in: Android, Mobile phones 12 hours ago by Kyle We knew the Samsung Galaxy Camera screen is guarded by the Gorilla Glass since its announcement. But the official press information didn’t say anything on the type of the Corning product used. That’s why we decided to ask Samsung’s representatives at IFA about the protective layer over the Super Clear LCD screen on the Android-powered camera. It turns out that the Galaxy Camera’s display is indeed protected by the second revision of Gorilla Glass. Sure it’s not going to affect the purchasing decisions of anyone, but it’s still good to know that Samsung didn’t cut any corners there. View the original article here

Nikon announces Android-based Coolpix S800c point and shoot camera

Nikon has finally announced their first Android-based Coolpic S800c point and shoot camera. On the camera side, it comes with a 16 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 10x optical zoom, 1080p video recording with stereo sound, 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen, EXPEED C2 processor, GPS and Wi-Fi. On the Android side, it comes with Android 2.3, Gingerbread pre-installed. You may remember that in yesterday’s article I wrote that it seems unlikely that Nikon would put stock Gingerbread on a camera. Well, turns out there is more to it than that. The S800c has two modes in the software. One is the camera mode, where it behaves like any other Nikon camera with a touchscreen, and the other is the Android mode, where it’s like a mini Android smartphone, complete with all your favorite apps from the Play Store. There is no cellular connectivity, so you will have to use the built-in Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet but other than that it would pretty much behave like your average Android device. When you have to...

Samsung announce EX2F large sensor compact camera

Posted in: Digital cameras 20 hours ago by Ian Samsung have released a successor to its EX1 (or TL500 in the US) large sensor compact camera. The new camera features what Samsung claim is the brightest compact camera lens, complete with a 3-inch swiveling AMOLED screen of VGA resolution. The camera’s F/1.4 24mm lens boasts four times the brightness of a standard F2.8 camera lens, while the 1/1.7” 12 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor further helps low-light conditions. Keep in mind though that the lens maximum aperture drops to F/2.7 when you zoom in to the long end of the lens. The camera supports ISO sensitivity of up to 12,800, offers full manual camera control, image stabilization, and the ability to record 1080p video. The ‘F’ in the EX2F name denotes WiFi compatibility, and allows you to automate your uploads to a wide variety of online outlets, including social networks, Microsoft SkyDrive, mobile devices (via dedicated Android and iOS apps), as well as automatic PC backups. The EX2F i...

Android running Nikon camera surfaces again, this time through pictures

Posted in: Android, Digital cameras 4 hours ago by Prasad We have reported in the past about Nikon working on an Android based point and shoot camera. Nikon Rumors have now published some pictures that are allegedly of this yet to be announced camera. The camera in question looks like your usual point and shooter from the front, until you get to the back where you’ll find a large touchscreen along with the usual physical Android navigation keys. To be honest, something about this picture doesn’t seem right. If Nikon is putting Android on their cameras, something tells me they won’t just put up a stock Android ROM on there, complete with an alarm and music player app, which seem out of place on a camera. Instead, they would probably try to make the UI seem more like their existing cameras while maintaining Android specific features such as image sharing or a web browser, rather than make it look like a generic Android phone’s UI. Nikon Rumors have pictures of two more cameras that s...

Nikon found to have been working on Android-based Coolpix S800 camera

Posted in: Android, Digital cameras 3 hours ago by Prasad Cameras running Android is not exactly a new concept. Polaroid showcased the SC1630 earlier this year at CES and even Samsung is said to have been working on a similar device. Now we are hearing that Nikon too is working on an Android based camera and there is some proof to back that claim as well. This information comes courtesy an Indonesian Communication filing from July 2012 that shows a product named Coolpix S800c (or S800), which is said to be running Android 2.3, Gingerbread. According to Nikon Rumors , the expected features of this camera include a 25-250mm lens, 3.5-inch OLED display, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi. They also say that the camera will run all apps from the Google Play Store, although that seems unlikely. The possible announcement date for this product is said to be August 22. While you may not exactly be able to play games on this camera, what the inclusion of Android means is that you will be able to install...

Five camera apps for your Nokia 808 PureView

To suggest that you could radically improve the camera in the Nokia 808 Pureview with the addition of a few apps would be pure folly. After all, Digital Photography Review, a publication that normally looks at digital SLR cameras rather than mere camera phones, has just given it a highly prized Gold Award. However, by installing a few apps from the Nokia Store, you can explore some creative, social and downright quirky tools that you can use with the 808 PureView’s camera. Here are five apps that will add an extra dimension to Nokia’s world-beating camera phone. The Camera Lover Pack is an app created by imaging specialists, Scalado, a company from which Nokia has recently acquired technology and developers for future products. There are five different lenses to play with: PhotoRama: Stitch three shots together to create panoramaPhotoTwister: Apply a host of different and adjustable psychedelic effectsPhotoFusion: Fuse two photos together with 12 templates to choose fromRetromatic: Ap...
