Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge renders offer a clear glimpse at the design

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has been photographed in the wild, but a new cache of images has cropped up. They are clearly renders instead of actual photos, but the design appears to match the leaks we've seen so far. This makes them the clearest images of the S6 Edge yet. The renders give us a detailed look at the metal frame and the curved screen that slopes down on the left and right side. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge renders The images also show the protruding camera (a 20MP/2160p shooter), which sticks out quite a bit. The element that protrudes from the other side is the hardware Home key, which houses a fingerprint sensor (the non-swipe kind allegedly). Thanks to Steve Hemmerstoffer for sending this in! Galaxy S6 teaser from Sprint hints at March 26 launch

We've seen the three shades of six appeal, but a verified Sprint employee posted a different teaser that shows both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Tucked into the lower right corner is a text reading "Offer ends 3/26/15" or in other words, March 26. The whole deal is that you can win one of six Galaxy S6 handsets if you pre-register for the S6 and S6 Edge announcement. It won't be outlandish to think the end of this offer is tied to the actual launch of the new flagship pair. The AT&T teaser was labeled "Spring 2015" and Spring starts on March 21 this year, so things are starting to line up. Before that Itskins, a case manufacturer, revealed it will ship its Galaxy S6 cases on March 15. So far everything points to a late March launch for the new Galaxy royalty, at least in the west. India will be getting it with a week or two delay in early April (according to a local site). One date is certain though ? the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Ed...

Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini will get Android 5.0 Lollipop in Q2

Samsung is currently in the process of updating a few of its devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop. So if you have, say, a Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, or Galaxy S5 you're pretty much already covered (though some rollouts have only made it to some regions at this point). But what if your device of choice is the Galaxy S5 Mini? The Korean smartphone maker did promise that it too would receive Lollipop, but that hasn't happened yet. And it looks like you're still in for quite a wait. Samsung's French arm has revealed that the S5 Mini is slated to taste the latest version of Android sometime in the second quarter of this year. That starts in April and ends in June. So clearly Samsung's priority is to give its highest-end offerings the software update first, then starting to work on mid-rangers such as the Galaxy S5 Mini. This is no surprise, really, as it's been the company's modus operandi in the past too. Yet if you were hoping for the S5 Mini to receive Lollipo...

New rumors state Galaxy S6 will offer wireless charging

The rumors about Samsung's next highly-anticipated flagship phone just keep pouring in. Controversy is at an all-time high and it seems that leaks are starting to contradict themselves more and more. One of the more widely spread opinions on the tech scene is that the Galaxy S6 will keep with current design trends and spout a full-metal unibody. However this might turn out to be not entirely true as two separate industry sources are now reporting that the Galaxy S6 will come with built-in wireless charging capability. The couple of reports come from DDaily and News 1 Korea and both hint at magnetic induction wireless charging in the smartphone. This is all fine, but magnetic induction can simply not function with an all-metal body. The material is a formidable barrier for electro-magnetic waves, making the whole process all but impossible due to losses and even quite dangerous. If the Galaxy S6 does indeed come with wireless charging that must mean that its back will not be 100% ...

Samsung teases the Galaxy Grand 3 in India

Following the numerous leaks, Samsung is about to launch of the Galaxy Grand 3 smartphone in India. The phone appeared later last year in TENAA and little before that went through benchmark testing. The Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 is teased as ?The grandest ever? and is expected to go on sale via Snapdeal. However, a specific time frame for the launch isn?t given at this stage. Samsung has upgraded its big-sized mid-ranger all around. The 5.25? display boasts 720p resolution and under the hood, there?s a Snapdragon 410 chipset with a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU running at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. The phone will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box. The Galaxy Grand 3 retains the 5MP selfie camera of the Grand Prime but upgrades the main camera to 13MP stills. Both cameras can record 1080p video. There is 12GB user-available storage, with 4GB going to Android and TouchWiz. Unsurprisingly, Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 is thinner and lighter than its predecessor. Its measures ...

Android 5.0 Lollipop update confirmed for the Galaxy Note II

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Note II will also get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, although it hasn't yet confirmed the date. The announcement was made by Samsung Poland via a tweet. It is worth noting that the South Korean company usually updates it flagship devices for around 1.5 years, but the Note II seems to be an exception as it has been more than two years since the device was launched. The news comes just a day after the Galaxy Note 4 started receiving the Lollipop update in Poland. Via View the original article here

Antutu score leak shows Galaxy S6 beastly performance

The hype around Samsung's next highly-anticipated flagship is at an all-time high and various leaks and rumors keep flooding in. The enthusiasm in really overwhelming and there's enough new info to feed the fire. From what we have heard the Galaxy S6 will be a truly impressive device, especially in terms of hardware performance. Today brings a new AnTuTu benchmark leak which is slightly different that the once we have already seen, but more importantly this time it is accompanied by an alleged test score. Rumors of Qualcomm loosing a major customer in the face of Samsung seem to bear a lot of credibility as the Korean giant will most likely rely solely on its Exynos SoC for the Galaxy S6. The in-house silicon in question should be the Exynos 7420, complete with 3GB of RAM and a Mali-T760 GPU. This is pretty apparent from the leaked specs sheet and coincides with previous rumors.. Looking at the test results the octa-core Exynos 7420, clocked at 2.1GHz is definitely a beast an...

Lollipop update now seeding to Exynos Galaxy S4 in India

Samsung has already updated the GPE model and the I9506 Galaxy S4 with Android 5 Lollipop. It recently begun seeding Lollipop to the Exynos-based I9500 Galaxy S4 flavor in Russia, too. As promised, the I9500 is the next major Samsung Galaxy S4 model to get the latest Android version. The second market to get the Lollipop treatment is India. The update is now available there over the air and weighs about 990MB. This means you must have at least 3GB free space before updating. Naturally, if your Samsung Galaxy S4 model is locked to a specific carrier it may took some extra time before the Lollipop updates reaches you because of the additional testing required. The Snapdragon 600-running I9505 Galaxy S4 will be next to taste Lollipop. The update is already in testing and should begin rolling out very soon. Thank you, Sameer Khan, for the tip! Galaxy S6 case leak confirm a double-edged S Edge exists

With MWC 2015 right around the corner the hype is on for new handset releases all over the place. Naturally Samsung is in the spotlight and the rumor mill has been overflowing with bits and pieces of the new Galaxy S6 flagship. Stories have been ranging all the way from hardware specs, like a supposed withdraw form Snapdragon SoCs and optional 4GB of RAM all the way to quirky concepts like advanced case designs and Gear VR compatibility. Perhaps the most prominent debate about the new device has been centered around its screen and Edge variant. Today comes with another leaked render that seems to showcase a double-edged variant of the device, supposedly called the Galaxy S Edge. The shot is said to be one of many, but Cnet Korea has provided only a single teaser to protect the identity of the source. The fact of the matter is that judging from the big Versus logo the render might just be of another round of cases for the eagerly anticipated design. We have been seeing quite a few of ...

Galaxy S6 gets rendered in cases based on actual dimensions

Just a couple of hours or so after a leak showed us the alleged schematics of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6, now we get some new renders of the device. These are showing it inside cases designed by Verus, a company which claims that the following images are based on the actual size measurements of the highly anticipated smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S6 renders So while the design shown here for the handset may not be a 100% accurate representation of the final product, the dimensions and proportions should be. We also assume the curves are accurately portrayed. More Samsung Galaxy S6 renders Of course, as the phone is in a case in all of these renders it's not easy to form an opinion about its design, or its size. The placement of the rear camera and its LED flash seems to be settled, though, as we've already had many leaks saying it would be exactly where you can see it. Past rumors told us that the Samsung Galaxy S6 would be 143mm long, 70.8mm wide, and 6.91mm thick. It...

If you bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 I9506 ? aka S4 LTE-A or S4 LTE+ - you may have been feeling a little left out of the Lollipop update bonanza. This version of the phone has a Snapdragon 800 chipset, just like the Galaxy Note 3 and an update over the Snapdragon 600 in the I9505. Most of its siblings got Android 5.0 ? the Google Play Edition and Exynos versions of the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Note 3 as well. Anyway, the update is finally available ? for SIM-free devices in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, plus Vodafone handsets in Germany and the Czech Republic. The China Unicom version of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A G9006 is being updated too. The firmware is a heavy one ? 1.2GB for the European phones. Release dates leak for Verizon's Nexus 6, Galaxy Core Prime

For the past couple of days it's been obvious that Verizon is getting ready to sell the Motorola Nexus 6 soon, after all the carrier put this on its own website. If you're dying to know when exactly that will happen, a new leak should help you. According to the document below, which is purported to be some kind of official Verizon communication, the Nexus 6 should land at Big Red on February 26. But as you can see, it's not the only handset that this carrier is going to launch in the next few weeks. On March 5, the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime will make its debut at Verizon. And on March 12 the Motorola Droid Turbo will get a new color version: "sapphire blue". If you're wondering what Verizon's Nexus 6 will end up looking like, another leak says it's going to be exactly as you can see in the following image. So no, there's no escaping the ever-present Verizon logo. That will be plastered on the phone's back, but perhaps there's hope for it n...

Rumor: Galaxy S Edge screen to be less curvy than Note Edge

The rumor mill is abuzz with Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S Edge tips and leaks. Reportedly the Galaxy S6 and S Edge bodies will be uniformly colored, with the same texture on the front. Apparently even the camera module will get a paint job, it's normally black regardless of the phone's color. Both new Galaxy S flagships will reportedly have metal unibodies and schematics show the Galaxy S6 will be pretty thin, 6.9mm. The camera will protrude though. As for the Galaxy S Edge, it will have Edge display on both sides. They will be 30% to 50% less curved than on the Galaxy Note, because it's a smaller handset and it has to accommodate Power and Volume buttons on the sides. Source View the original article here

Samsung Galaxy S6 metal frame revealed in photos

The first photos of the Samsung Galaxy S6 metal frame have surfaced. Moreover, the new photos portray the frame from all angles and show the layout of its ports and buttons. Leaked schematics of the phone suggest it'll measure just 7.2mm thick and the sides look have a carved design. At the top, there are plastic cutouts for the antennas, a secondary microphone and what looks to be a cutout for an IR blaster. The left side holds the volume rocker, while on the right there's the Power/Lock button and a SIM tray. Samsung Galaxy S6 metal frame The bottom is quite busy with a microUSB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, main mic and a single speaker grille. The camera is rumored to be 20MP and take a large place at the back and next to it is the LED flash and heart rate sensor. In terms of specs, we expect the phone to pack a 5" Super AMOLED display of QHD resolution, Exynos 7420 chipset with an octa-core CPU and 3GB of RAM. The 20MP camera is coupled with a 5MP front-facing one...

Samsung Galaxy S5 for AT&T gets Android 4.4.4

Android 4.4.4 KitKat is now seeding to Samsung Galaxy S5 for AT&T over-the-air. The new OS build brings a number of features to the SM-G900A headed by support for VoLTE. Security updates, bug fixes, and other improvements are also part of the update. HD voice capability, AT&T service additions, and preinstalled Uber app round up all the highlights. Considering that Samsung Galaxy S5 for Verizon Wireless began receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop yesterday, we find it it a tad surprising that its AT&T sibling lags so far behind with the OS updates. Here?s hoping that the SM-G900 won?t stay with Android 4.4.4 for too long. Source View the original article here

630,000 Galaxy Note Edge units have been sold since launch

Last September, Samsung unveiled two phablet flagships: the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge. Since the only major difference between the two was the screen - the latter, as you?d probably know, features a distinctive curved display on one of its edges - it was a bit difficult to predict how well the Note Edge would sell. But now, it is being reported that Samsung has sold around 630,000 Galaxy Note Edge smartphones since the device?s launch. Agreed, that?s even no where near the 4.5 million Galaxy Note 4 units sold in the very first month of its availability, but the number isn?t as bad as some would have suggested, especially considering the fact that the device comes with an even higher price tag. In fact, that?s good news for Samsung, which is expected to unveil its next flagship, the Galaxy S6, as well as its curved screen cousin, the Galaxy S Edge, at Mobile World Congress next month. In case you aren?t aware, the company has already sent out invites for its Galaxy Unpacke...

Samsung passes the 10 million Galaxy Note units shipped in South Korea

Samsung announced that it has passed the 10 million Galaxy Note units shipped in South Korea mark. The number includes all Galaxy Note phablets, starting from the original Galaxy Note which was introduced back in 2011, as well as its successors, Note II and Note 3. The company hasn’t mentioned the global numbers, but we would have to guess that figure is north of 50 million. Samsung pretty much created the phablet space that includes smartphones with 5.3-inch and bigger screens. Ever since the original Galaxy Note was launched, other vendors joined the trend, with Sony, Huawei, LG and HTC all launching comparable devices. Samsung, however, is still a dominant player in this market, and has consequently launched more affordable Galaxy Mega series. As I’m writing this, we’re waiting to see the first “Lite” Note unveiled, Galaxy Note 3 Lite, which will sit somewhere between the Note II and last year’s Note 3… Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following...

Verizon-slated Samsung Galaxy NotePRO caught at the FCC

Verizon Wireless is apparently preparing to drastically expand its tablet portfolio. Thus far we’ve heard about three tablets coming their way: Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, Nexus 7 2013 Edition and LG G Pad 8.3. Like that’s not enough, the Big Red carrier may also add Sammy’s recently announced Galaxy NotePRO to its line-up. Such device has cleared the FCC and is now ready to be sold on the U.S. soil. The built-in radio sings along LTE band 4 and band 13, which are used by Verizon. Moreover, the tablet is marked as SM-P905V where that “V” at the end stands for, well, Verizon or so we think. It’s unclear when will Verizon officially announce the NotePRO and we can only hope this will be a short wait. We’ve no idea who in the world wants a 12.2-inch tablet, though. Perhaps some specialty industries or something. Any thoughts? [Via: PhoneArena] Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergenc...
