Here's what to expect from the Mobile World Congress 2015

The Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest events in the mobile industry and it's about to start this very Sunday. As usual, the event is held in sunny Barcelona, where key industry players will present their latest products. With so many product announcements happening in a few short days, it's bound to get confusing, so we though we'd come up with this cheat sheet to help you follow your favorite brands. The largest smartphone manufacturer is preparing to blast through MWC with a flagship duo in the face of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Dubbed "Galaxy Unpacked 2015", the event is scheduled for March 1, and for what we know so far, the focus will fall on smartphones. According to the latest pieces of evidence, the Galaxy S6 will house a 5" QHD Super AMOLED display and set benchmarks on fire with an Exynos 7420 chipset with an octa-core CPU and 3GB of RAM. At the back, there's a 16MP camera with dual LED flash. Samsung is also equipping ...

Here's what BlackBerry's CEO really said about bringing the 'BlackBerry experience' to Android

Hint: It's short on any actual answers. But it's fairly obvious that getting more BlackBerry services on iOS and Android — never mind any sort of "experience"  — might be BlackBerry's best play at this point. Hell, it might be their only play. And gotta love the "best of luck" at the end. read more

Here’s how Google plans to get Motorola out of the mud

Posted in: Mobile phones 12 hours ago by Chavis Today’s Motorola event was mostly dedicated to the company’s new RAZR lineup, but it also gave a chance to Motorola’s recently appointed CEO, Dennis Woodside (a former Google exec), to give us a glimpse of Motorola’s strategy in the realm of mobile devices now that it’s been acquired by Google. “New Motorola starts today!” We weren’t treated to any surprises in terms of goals, as obviously Woodside aims a reboot of the company’s smartphone business to a point where it would become a common fact that “the best Android device – it’s a Motorola”. To achieve this, Motorola would be focusing on three aspects for now. First off, it will be catering to the needs of mobile enthusiasts by releasing developer editions of its phones. Secondly, the company is committing itself on bringing future Android updates as quickly as possible to its whole lineup. And finally, by the end of the year Motorola will provide Jelly Bean updates to as many of its ...

Here’s how iOS 6 apps look like on a taller display

Posted in: iOS, Mobile phones, Rumors August 10th, 2012, 17:32 by Ian We’ve heard a wide variety of sources claim that the upcoming iPhone will feature a larger display, and today we can add one more to the list. When put through an iOS simulator at a resolution of 1136 x 640 (the rumored resolution of the iPhone 5), many iOS 6 apps scale perfectly to the new size, revealing interfaces which have been tweaked and optimized for the different aspect ratio. The upcoming iPhone 5 (if that’s what it’ll be called), is rumored to feature a screen size which will measure just above the 4 inch mark, and will supposedly also have a new aspect ratio of 16:9. Above, you can see how the iOS 6 homescreen scales to support 20 icons (not counting the dock), while the current iPhone only supports 16. Here’s how the Apple keyboard gets scaled in landscape mode. While many of the iOS 6 apps appear to make good use of the new resolution, there are a number of legacy apps, which have letterboxing along t...

You can get Flash on your Jelly Bean droid, here’s how

Posted in: Android, Mobile software July 26th, 2012, 12:24 by Peter Flash may get a lot of hate, but it’s still a pretty big part of the Internet and a lot of people weren’t too pleased when Adobe announced they won’t release a Flash Player for Android versions past ICS. If you’ve already made the jump to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and miss having access to non-HTML5 parts of the web, then XDA-Developers has your back. There’s nothing complicated that you need to do – just download the Flash Player APK (you’ll find a couple of links at the XDA forum thread), install it with a file manager and make sure plug-ins are enabled in the browser. Yep, that’s it – of course, you can’t really count on support and bug fixes from Adobe and they’ll even remove the Player from the Play Store after August 15. Thanks, Karlo Vranjes, for sending this in! Source View the original article here
