Nikon launches 1 J2 mirrorless and Coolpix L610 superzoom cameras

The first one is the newest member of the Nikon 1 family, which currently includes the V1 and the J1. The J2 is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that is mostly similar to the older J1 with minor modifications. It has the same 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor up front in a compact, rangefinder-style body but the display on the back has been upgraded and now has 921k dots in the same 3.0-inch size. The J2 also has a new Creative Mode that lets you add visual effects to your images, a metallic body and comes in a new orange color. The Nikon 1 J2 camera with the 10-30mm lens (27-80mm in 35mm equivalent) will be available in September 2012 for the suggested retail price of $549.95. Canon officially announces the EOS M, their first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera

A few days ago we reported about the leaked image of the then unannounced Canon EOS M camera. This was to be the first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera from the company and was supposed to be announced on July 23. And just as expected, here comes the full announcement from Canon. As with other cameras of this kind, Canon is boasting about the existence of a DSLR size sensor and the ability to change lenses in a relatively compact camera that you can carry around with you every where. They are also targeting the everyday photographers with this camera, that is, the people you see going around clicking pictures of things usually with their mobile phone cameras, but with this they can do the same with much better results. The Canon EOS M uses an 18 megapixel APS-C sensor that is based on the sensor from the EOS-650D.
