Samsung passes the 10 million Galaxy Note units shipped in South Korea

Samsung announced that it has passed the 10 million Galaxy Note units shipped in South Korea mark. The number includes all Galaxy Note phablets, starting from the original Galaxy Note which was introduced back in 2011, as well as its successors, Note II and Note 3. The company hasn’t mentioned the global numbers, but we would have to guess that figure is north of 50 million. Samsung pretty much created the phablet space that includes smartphones with 5.3-inch and bigger screens. Ever since the original Galaxy Note was launched, other vendors joined the trend, with Sony, Huawei, LG and HTC all launching comparable devices. Samsung, however, is still a dominant player in this market, and has consequently launched more affordable Galaxy Mega series. As I’m writing this, we’re waiting to see the first “Lite” Note unveiled, Galaxy Note 3 Lite, which will sit somewhere between the Note II and last year’s Note 3… Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following...

Nokia Lumia 1320 hits Australian shelves Feb 4; AUD$449 price tag

The Nokia Lumia 1320, Nokia’s budget “phablet” that we saw at Nokia World last year, has been slowly releasing around Asia-Pacific. Today we got word that it’ll be hitting Australia at the beginning of next month, specifically February 4th, and priced outright and unlocked at AUD$449. Pretty great price if you ask me! The Lumia 1320 will also be on-contract through Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. Source: News.com.au Category : Nokia Hi! My name is Michael. Like the others, I'm also a Student, living here in Sydney. Samsung’s Magazine UX for smartphones leaked

Samsung is preparing to yet again revamp its TouchWIZ UI. The new interface will likely debut with the upcoming Galaxy S5, boasting a number of elements from the recently unveiled PRO tablets. And what you can see here is how that new UI will look like on a smaller screen, thanks to the ever-savvy folks of EVleaks. It’s obvious Samsung wants to expand on its “life companion” paradigm by including elements of Google Now in its software. The search giant doesn’t let third parties tap into Google Now so we’re guessing the Korean company is starting from a clean slate. Then again, it already has a number of services and may team-up with select companies to present users with relevant information right on their homescreens. Presented in the form of cards, users will be able to quickly access such information as flight status, fitness/activity information, current location, text messages, sport scores, biking/cycling data, and delivery tracking details. Add S Voice to the mix, and you get a...

Hands-on review: Plantronics RIG

Plantronics has been in the headset industry for quite some time now so its no rookie when it comes to creating great gaming audio peripherals. Owners of next-gen consoles have pretty limited headset choices right now and are left with expensive sets or ... non-existent ones. The RIG, so far, seems to be a worthy headset - and an affordable option to boot with the price being slashed down to only $99.99 (about £60.83, AU$111.63). The RIG works with the PS4, PS3 , Xbox 360 and PC/Macs to chat with other players but like many other headsets, it doesn't quite have Xbox One support. Rather, there's only side chat available - though you can still use the headphones with the new Xbox console. During CES 2014 , the RIG was on the show floor hooked up to a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One where I was able to have a quick hands on. The design is simple and unassuming but does not take away from the fact that these are quite comfortable over-ear headphones. The cups are cloth and made with...

Nokia working on Lumia 1520 Mini?

Guess what? Nokia may join the “Mini” craze later this year. The new rumor suggests the company is working on a smaller version of its Lumia 1520 flagship. We’re still not sure whether it will be actually called Lumia 1520 Mini or, more likely, will have some other “Lumia name.” Specs wise, this device will apparently come with 2GB of RAM, 3,000 mAh battery, 14-megapixel PureView camera, wireless charging support and 32GB of internal storage. In addition, it will reportedly have a 4.3-inch full HD screen, which is somewhat ludicrous. That’s a crazy PPI count by any stretch of imagination — “standard” 720p HD display is more than good enough for such small screen. Anyway, the story goes on suggesting that we won’t be seeing the Lumia 1520 Mini before April when Microsoft should released Windows Phone 8.1. We’ll be on the lookout for new information and let you know as soon as we have something new to add. Stay tuned in the meantime… [Via: WMpoweruser] Dusan has been using smartphones ...

Nokia Lumia 929 goes on sale in China

You got that right, the Nokia Lumia 929 is now available at TaoBao in China. And that’s apparently the same or at least very similar model to the one that will soon be available from Verizon Wireless. It even has Verizon’s logo all over it. Go figure. The price of the unlocked unit is set at 3,800 Yuan which translates into some $630. The Big Red carrier will subsidize the handset, most likely offering it for some $200 on a two-year contract. Yeah, we’re not sure why it takes so long for Verizon to launch this phone. It already got FCC’s seal of approval and has been even spotted at the carrier’s website. It should be out any day now, but then again – we thought the same thing back in December. Anyhow, for those of you who missed it, the Lumia 929 aka Lumia Icon is the Windows Phone to get. It comes with all the latest bells and whistles, including Qualcomm’s fast Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, PureView camera on the back, 5-inch full HD screen, 4G LTE connectivity suppor...

Review: HP ZBook 14 review

Introduction When it comes to professional laptops, HP isn't playing games. The company isn't interested in fancy features or alternative designs—its simply out to make a product that delivers. Inside and out, that philosophy is clear in the HP ZBook 14, which the vendor claims is "the world's first workstation ultrabook." Weighing just 3.57 pounds and measuring 0.83 inches thin, the ZBook 14 is quite the mobile machine. The notebook was a breeze to carry around in my shoulder bag for the past week or so, and wasn't a pain to pull out either. The fact that HP ensured that its workstation ultrabook was built with premium materials certainly helped. The ZBook 14 comes in a gray brushed aluminum finish on its lid surrounded by black soft touch paint accents and a classy chrome HP logo front and center. Smooth magnesium coats the laptop keyboard deck in an almost gunmetal hue, surrounding a chiclet-style, backlit and spill-resistant keyboard with matte plastic ...
