Pantech Vega Iron 2 with top-notch hardware coming to South Korea

Samsung is working on the Galaxy S5, HTC on the successor to its One smartphone, LG – on G3, while Pantech wants to compete with its upcoming Vega Iron 2. This, still rumored device will apparently be a beast-phone, packing the top-notch hardware to make it a viable alternative to competing vendors’ high-end offering. According to ZDNet Korea, the Iron 2 will launch in April, sporting a metal body, fingerprint scanner and a 2K screen (1600 x 2560 pixels). Alas, we may not see it hitting the Western hemisphere at all. Although Pantech managed to bring some of its devices to the U.S. market, most of those were low- and mid-range phones. During last year, the Korean firm unveiled several interesting smartphones and phablets, none of which were sold outside of Korean peninsula. Perhaps things will change with the Vega Iron 2, perhaps not. In any case, we’re looking forward to play with this device during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Stay tuned… [Via: PhoneArena] Dusan has been usi...

CEO of Tinder invites Rudy Huyn for talks after the take down of and open letter for 6tinder

The other day, Rudy posted an open letter to Tinder after it was issued a take-down notice. Today, the CEO of Tinder responds to Rudy, saying he appreciates his initiative and is committed to bringing the best experience for their users. He’s invited Rudy to talk and Direct Message him on twitter. It’s good to at least see a response in getting Tinder for WP. Hopefully, like Instagram, they’ll allow Rudy’s app there until they bring their own and then let it exist in conjunction with theirs. Via: WMPU Cheers Alvester for the tip! Hands-on review: Pentax K-500

Introduction The rise of the compact system camera has made it a tough time in recent years for the entry-level DSLR, which may explain why Pentax hasn't rushed to replace its ageing K-r junior model. But, better late than never, the K-500 steps in to fill the vacant bread-and-butter end of the company's DSLR range. In essence the K-500 is the same camera as the new mid-range K-50 that Pentax recently introduced to replace the K-30. The key differences between the new siblings are that the K-500 has to do without weather sealing, and its autofocus system lacks any AF point display in the viewfinder. But given Pentax's history of producing well made beginner DSLRs with good specs, can the K-500 prove a worthy alternative to the Canon 100D , Nikon D3200 and Sony A58 ? Features First impressions aren't encouraging, however, suggesting Pentax is already playing catch-up with its established rivals. At the heart of the K-500 is the same 16.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor fou...
