How-To: Root LG G Pad 8.3

The LG G Pad 8.3 is the company’s latest tablet entry, and it’s recently gained root access! Those who want to see custom ROMs for the tablet are going to have to wait a bit, but you can at least now take full advantage of applications that require root to work. If you want to root your LG G Pad 8.3, follow along, as we’re going to show you how to do it! That said, there are a few warnings before we get started.

Before you root: Keep in mind that we take no responsibility for what happens to your G Pad is something goes wrong.

While unconfirmed, the original post on XDA for this root method gives the following warning:

Some people have reported that some of your data and IMEI numbers may be sent to a Chinese IP address at the time of root (only a one time thing). You can use this at your own risk, it will give you root but I recommend removing all the data you don’t want others to have access to before rooting. No one has reported anything happening with this data (no stolen accounts etc) but still should warn you. We also don’t know the extent of it or what data is copied. If you are paranoid wait for a replacement method.

You’ve been warned about the above possibility, but if you’re jonesing for some root action on your LG G Pad 8.3, follow along with this simple and straight forward rooting method.

We have confirmed this root method to work, although the LG G Pad 8.3 is not mentioned as a supported device on the Kingo website.Now that you’re rooted, it’s time to patiently await a custom recovery and ROMs to find their way to this awesome tablet!
